After a horrific anti-Semitic attack last weekend, the Department of Homeland Security is “revamping” the way Americans can help prevent any future atrocities from happening again.

On June 1, a peaceful pro-Israeli gathering calling for the continued release of hostages held by Hamas terrorists was violently attacked.

A maniac wielding incendiary devices — the weapons have been described as both “flamethrower” and Molotov cocktail-like — attacked the group in Boulder, Colorado, injuring 12, two badly, in the process.

Reports began circulating that the alleged perpetrator, Mohamed Sabry Soliman, was an Egyptian national who had overstayed his visa, making this a matter of national security, on top of it being a seeming hate crime.

Due to that factor, DHS is now turning to everyday American citizens that can help prevent future similar attacks.

‘So, arrest me’: Newsom taunts border czar as ICE riots rage

California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom condemned the Trump administration on Sunday and dared border czar Tom Homan to arrest him amid the anti-ICE riots in Los Angeles County.

Trump drew the ire of California Democrats, such as Newsom and L.A. Mayor Karen Bass, after he deployed the National Guard to shut down the riots that broke out over the weekend. Homan then warned Newsom and Bass against impeding federal law enforcement officers and threatened them with arrest if they “cross[ed]” the line.” The California governor shot back, imploring the Trump administration to keep their “hands off these poor people” who are “just trying to live their lives.”

UPDATE: Los Angeles Police Chief Jim McDonnell said in a Sunday evening press conference that the violence was “getting increasingly worse and more violent.”

“This violence that I’ve seen, it’s disgusting,” McDonnell said, according to Fox News. “It’s escalated now, since the beginning of this incident. What we saw the first night was bad. What we’ve seen subsequent to that is getting increasingly worse and more violent.”

“We’ve seen people with hammers … breaking the bollards behind the federal building and taking the rocks. If you will, or pieces of concrete and throwing them at officers,” McDonnell added. “We’ve had liquid—of who knows what, description thrown at officers. There’s no limit to what they’re, doing to our officers,” he added.

Mayor Mobolade’s town hall tour met with mixed reviews across Colorado Springs

Friday marks two years since Yemi Mobolade was sworn in as Colorado Springs’ 42nd mayor. His achievements so far have drawn mixed reactions from the city’s residents who attended the Report Out Community Tour events this week.

Mobolade launched the tour on May 23, holding a meeting in each of the six Colorado Springs City Council districts to hear how residents felt about the progress made on the goals. The largest turnout was Tuesday night, when several dozen people sat in the auditorium of The Classical Academy for the District 2 meeting.

The crowd was unhappy to find out that Mobolade would not be appearing. City staff and council members said he had attended Monday’s town hall while sick but had begun feeling worse. Mobolade was absent from the events Tuesday and Wednesday and the city rescheduled his telephone town hall to June 25.

Illegal immigrant faces 118-count indictment for firebombing pro-Israel demonstrators

BOULDER — The man accused of tossing Molotov cocktails into a group of peaceful demonstrators in Boulder was charged Thursday in state court with 118 counts, including attempted murder.

Mohamed Soliman, 45, could spend the rest of his life in prison if convicted. He appeared in court at the Boulder County jail on Thursday afternoon where he was advised of the charges against him. Soliman is being held in lieu of a $10 million bond. 

The 118 charges included 28 counts of attempted first-degree murder and nine counts of first-degree assault, court documents show. Soliman’s next appearance in Boulder court is scheduled for July 15. Victims in the attack ranged in age from 25 to 88, three of whom remained in the hospital Thursday.

Trump issues visa ban impacting 19 countries, effective June 9

President Donald Trump signed a proclamation on Wednesday that suspends nationals from 12 countries from entering the United States, and it also restricts people from seven other countries from entering.

Unlike an executive order, a proclamation issued by the president isn’t legally binding but generally signals a shift in official federal government policy. It will go into effect on Monday, June 9, at 12:01 a.m. ET.

What Countries Are Listed in the Ban?

The 12 countries that face total bans under the proclamation include Afghanistan, Chad, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Burma (also known as Myanmar), Republic of the Congo, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen.

Law and order works: U.S. murder rate plunges 20% under President Trump

President Donald Trump’s law and order agenda is to thank for the murder rate dropping by 20% this year so far, the White House said Tuesday.

Crime data analyst Jeff Asher reviewed the most homicide-prone cities nationwide and found a more than 20% decrease from 2024.

“Since President Trump took office, murder rates have plummeted across the entire United States,” press secretary Karoline Leavitt told The Daily Signal in a statement. “American families were promised their communities would be safer and President Trump swiftly delivered by vocally being tough on crime, unequivocally backing law enforcement, and standing firm on violent criminals being held to the fullest extent of the law.”

BOULDER, Colo. (AP) — A federal judge issued an order Wednesday to prevent the deportation of the wife and five children of an Egyptian man charged in the firebombing attack in Boulder, Colorado.

U.S. District Judge Gordon P. Gallagher granted a request from the family of Mohamed Sabry Soliman to halt deportation proceedings of his wife and five children who were taken into federal custody Tuesday by U.S. immigration officials.

What happened in Boulder was an act of terrorism, plain and simple. The alleged actions of Mohamed Sabry Soliman, targeting Jews in what authorities have rightly identified as an ideologically motivated, antisemitic attack, must be condemned in the strongest possible terms. It was not a “disturbance,” or a “clash,” or a “misunderstanding.” It was hate. And it was violent, deliberate, and evil.

An illegal immigrant teenager who was spared jail time after he was convicted of killing a Colorado woman in a high-speed crash has been arrested, along with his family, by immigration authorities. 

The 16-year-old from Colombia was sentenced to probation and community service for the July 2024 death of Kaitlyn Weaver, 24, in Aurora after striking a plea deal with prosecutors. 

The teen, who has not been publicly named because of state laws that shield the identity of underage criminal suspects, was arrested May 20 along with his family, who were also living in the United States illegally, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) said.
