King Soopers files for temporary restraining order against striking employees

By Brooke Williams | KDVR-TV Fox 31 News King Soopers has filed for a temporary restraining order against union workers, accusing picketers of harassing customers amid a strike across 77 Denver metro grocery stores. King Soopers employees who are represented by the Colorado grocery union UFCW Local 7 went on strike last Thursday after several months of failed negotiations. Many workers continue picketing outside of Denver metro area stores this week. The grocery giant filed a lawsuit against the union on Friday, accusing the union of unlawfully requiring it to bargain with out-of-state labor unions that do not represent its associates. $71M project to address ice buildup in Eisenhower-Johnson Memorial Tunnels

By Rachel Saurer | KDVR-TV Fox 31 News The iconic Eisenhower-Johnson Memorial Tunnels on the Interstate 70 corridor might soon be getting a facelift after the Colorado Department of Transportation noticed more ice buildup over the past several years.  “With any structure, especially one as complex as this tunnel, there’s going to be some aging, there’s going to be some maintenance needed on the tunnel,” said Stacia Sellers, a spokesperson for CDOT. The Eisenhower Tunnel was built in 1973 and the Johnson Tunnel was built in 1979, so both have seen their share of wear and tear. Whooping cough cases nearly tripled in Colorado during 2024, per CDC data

By Jacob Factor | KDVR-TV Fox 31 News Whooping cough cases are rising across the country and in Colorado, with a nearly 270% increase in Colorado between 2023 and 2024, according to provisional Centers for Disease Control data. Nationally, cases of whooping cough, also known as pertussis, increased from just over 7,000 cases in 2023 to nearly 35,500 cases in 2024, according to the CDC’s provisional 2024 report. The 2023 provisional report shows Colorado had 244 cases then, while 2024 saw 655 reported cases. According to the CDC’s website, the U.S. is returning to “pre-pandemic patterns where more than 10,000 cases are typically reported each year.” The CDC says public health authorities focus on protecting people at the highest risk for serious illness. For murdering his mother, Greeley man gets life in prison without parole

By Brooke Williams | KDVR-TV Fox 31 News A man from Greeley was sentenced to life in prison on Wednesday for shooting and killing his mother over two years ago. Andrew Sweatt, 28, was convicted of first-degree murder by a Weld County jury on Wednesday after an eight-day trial. According to a press release from the 19th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, Sweatt shot his mother 10 times on Dec. 8, 2022. Denver police said on Feb. 5, between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m., they received approximately five reports of felony menacing with shots fired by a driver of a vehicle along I-225 in Aurora and I-25 in Denver. Man convicted in Aurora operation that produced ‘millions’ of fentanyl pills

By Jacob Factor | KDVR-TV Fox 31 News A Denver jury has convicted a man responsible for producing “millions of individual fentanyl pills” during 2024 in a drug manufacturing operation based in Aurora, the Denver District Attorney announced Wednesday morning. Tashon Roberts, 33, was convicted on four charges related to the manufacture, possession and distribution of fentanyl as well as three counts of child abuse – exposure to the manufacturing of a controlled substance and one count of tampering with physical evidence.
