By Thomas Stevenson | The Post Millennial President Donald Trump said that he will be signing an executive order that will keep TikTok running for another 75 days in order to finalize a purchase deal with Chinese-based company ByteDance.  Trump posted on Truth Social, "My Administration has been working very hard on a Deal to SAVE TIKTOK, and we have made tremendous progress. Supreme Court unanimously upholds forced sale of TikTok from Chinese parent company

By Josh Christenson | The New York Post The US Supreme Court unanimously upheld a law Friday that would force TikTok’s sale from a Chinese state-owned firm, even as President Biden and President-elect Donald Trump have sought to block the divestment. The nine justices ordered the qualified divestment by Jan. 19 of the California-based social media platform from Beijing-based ByteDance. “There is no doubt that, for more than 170 million Americans, TikTok offers a distinctive and expansive outlet for expression, means of engagement, and source of community,” read the key portion of the unsigned opinion. Trump meets with TikTok CEO at Mar-a-Lago as ban on app looms

By David Krayden | The Post Millennial TikTok CEO Shou Chew met with Trump at Mar-a-Lago on Monday, a person familiar with the meeting told CNN, as the company seeks the intervention of the Supreme Court in its battle with the federal government. On Dec. 6 the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit upheld the federal government’s ban on TikTok over concerns with national security. To avoid the ban of the app, Chinese company ByteDance is required to divest from the social media platform. The Trump-Chew meeting is reportedly the first time the two have talked in person since Trump won the presidency on Nov. 5. Arguments begin in legal battle over potential TikTok ban before federal appeals court

By Patrick Maguire, Scott MacFarlane, Kaia Hubbard | CBS Colorado A long-brewing legal standoff over the popular video-sharing app TikTok got underway on Monday, with arguments in the challenge against a possible ban kicking off.  TikTok and its parent company ByteDance have been under fire by U.S. officials for years over warnings that China's government could gain access to users' data and use it to manipulate or spy on Americans. But a renewed push against the app gained momentum in Congress earlier this year, as lawmakers approved a foreign aid package that included provisions requiring it to be sold or be banned from U.S. app stores.
