Costco Teamsters vote to authorize strike

By Pilar Arias  | Fox Business Eighteen thousand Costco Teamsters are preparing to strike if a "fair contract offer" is not presented by the end of the month. Eighty-five percent of Costco Teamsters across the U.S. voted in favor of authorizing the strike, according to a Sunday press release. Tensions had been building throughout the week, as Teamsters put up several Costco-related posts on its social media. "From day one, we’ve told Costco that our members won’t work a day past January 31 without a historic, industry-leading agreement," Teamsters General President Sean M. Teamsters union launches historic nationwide strike against Amazon: ‘Paying the price’

By  Elizabeth Pritchett  | Fox Business Thousands of Amazon workers organized under the Teamsters union went on strike at 6 a.m. Thursday after the company's "repeated refusal to follow the law and bargain." Amazon Teamsters at seven facilities in Skokie, Illinois; New York City, Atlanta, San Francisco and Southern California are participating in the "largest strike" against the trillion-dollar company in American history, the union said in a news release. Workers at other facilities are prepared to join them. Though Teamsters says it represents about 10,000 people across ten Amazon facilities in the U.S., the company doesn't recognize workers' affiliation with the union. By Mallory Wilson | The Washington Times Teamsters President Sean O’Brien closed out the first night of the Republican National Convention with a pro-worker and anti-corporation message not common at major GOP gatherings. “I travel all across this country to meet with my members every week,” Mr. O’Brien said. “You know what I see? An American worker being taken for granted. Workers being sold out to big banks, big tech, corporations and the elites.” His speech was the first speech by a Teamsters president at an RNC ever, because unions have traditionally been a Democratic voting bloc.
