By Simon Kent | Breitbart Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon was released from prison early Tuesday after serving a four-month sentence for defying a subpoena from the January 6 Select Committee. He is now free one week before the 2024 election is decided. Bannon, the host of the War Room podcast, reported to the Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury, Connecticut, back in June to begin his sentence, as Breitbart News reported. By KATELYNN RICHARDSON | The Daily Caller Former Trump advisor Steve Bannon reported to prison Monday and is now officially in custody, according to The Associated Press. Bannon will serve a four-month sentence for his conviction on contempt of Congress charges for ignoring a subpoena from the Jan. 6 select committee. The Supreme Court declined on Friday to postpone his sentence while he appeals the conviction. The Bureau of Prisons confirmed Monday that he is now in custody, according to the AP. By ZACH SCHONFELD | The Hill A federal judge ordered Steve Bannon, the one-time adviser to former President Trump, to begin his four-month prison sentence in July as he appeals his contempt of Congress conviction.  U.S. District Judge Carl Nichols agreed with prosecutors at a Wednesday hearing, ordering Bannon must self-surrender by July 1 since his bid to overturn his conviction was rejected by a three-judge appeals panel last month.  “The government’s motion is granted,” said Nichols, a Trump appointee. Bannon had opposed the move, insisting he will appeal all the way to the Supreme Court, if necessary, and arguing he should remain free in the meantime.
