US stepping back from peace talks role to end war between Russia and Ukraine: State Department official

By Patrick Reilly | New York Post The US is stepping back from its involvement in peace talks between Russia and Ukraine to end the war, a State Department official signaled Thursday. State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce told reporters that the US “will not be the mediators” going forward, reflecting President Trump’s frustration at the lack of progress between Kyiv and Moscow in ending the bloodshed. “We are not going to fly around the world at the drop of a hat to mediate meetings,” she said, adding that the US remains committed to helping reach a deal. Rubio overhauling ‘bloated’ State Department in sweeping reform

By Michael Dorgan  | Fox News The Trump administration has announced it is overhauling the State Department and shuttering more than 130 offices around the world in order to streamline operations and align the department more closely with the administration's foreign policy objectives. The move was announced on Tuesday by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who said region-specific functions will be consolidated to increase functionality and redundant offices will be shut down. Programs that are misaligned with America’s core national interests will be shuttered too, he said. By Stephen Sorace  | Fox News The U.S. State Department has adopted a new policy under the Trump administration that effectively blocks U.S. embassies and outposts from flying Pride and Black Lives Matter flags, a report said Tuesday. The Washington Free Beacon first reported that it obtained a copy of the "One Flag Policy" order, which permits only the American flag to be flown at U.S. facilities at home and abroad, with two notable exceptions: the Prisoner of War/Missing in Action (POW/MIA) emblem and the Wrongful Detainees Flag. "Starting immediately, only the United States of America flag is authorized to be flown or displayed at U.S. facilities, both domestic and abroad, and featured in U.S. government content," the memo states, according to the outlet. "The flag of the Unite...

Spending bill subsidizes State Department’s conservative censorship slush fund

By Bradley Jaye | Breitbart The government funding bill includes a one-year extension of the State Department’s Global Engagement Center (GEC), an agency that funds organizations that censor conservative media including Breitbart News. The provision extending funding for the program is on page 139 of the 1,537-page continuing resolution, which was unveiled Tuesday night just hours before the House will vote on the short-term spending bill. The Washington Examiner’s Gabe Kaminsky posted on Twitter that the bill “includes a one-year extension on the State Department’s Global Engagement Center — the agency me and Matt Taibbi reported has funded speech suppression efforts and is being sued by the Federalist and Daily Wire.” READ THE FULL STORY AT BREITBART
