Protect Kids Colorado working toward ballot initiative, ‘moving the needle’ on bills, co-founder Erin Lee says

By Brian Porter | Rocky Mountain Voice Protect Kids Colorado is locked in for another run this summer at a ballot initiative protecting children, co-founder Erin Lee said Monday evening in an organizational call. "We're a broad coalition," Lee said. "We are proudly non-partisan. We come together for initiatives that protect kids and strengthen families." She has grown concerned with school districts and hospitals which have not complied with directives from the federal government related to gender-affirming medicine and diversity, equity and inclusion programs. Members of her organization have been watching bills of interest in the 75th Colorado Legislature and appearing to testify with a position. Examples of some positive bills she gave include House Bill 25-1251, by Republic...

Lee and Lundberg: A call to get involved with Protect Kids Colorado

By Erin Lee and Kevin Lundberg | Guest Commentary, Rocky Mountain Voice Protect Kids Colorado (PKC) first launched earlier this year with two citizen initiatives to address the harm being caused by gender ideology in our public schools. Along with several other strong community leaders, we worked overtime to stand up a permanent organization that will protect kids in Colorado from the dangers of transgender ideology through education, citizen initiatives and aggressive oversight of state and local legislation. By BRIAN PORTER | Rocky Mountain Voice An effort to place two initiatives on the statewide 2024 ballot came up short, but leaders and volunteers of Protect Kids Colorado say they will continue the work toward successful 2026 signature campaigns. "We're not going anywhere," said Erin Lee, one of several leaders of Protect Kids Colorado. "The fire has only just been lit in Colorado." In coordination with former Colorado Sen. Kevin Lundberg and other leaders, Protect Kids Colorado attempted to put forward two propositions: Prop. 142 - Requiring parents of children in public schools to be informed if their child is experiencing "gender incongruence," a term defined by the initiative as "a difference between a child's biological [born-with] sex and the child's perceived or desired g...

‘We must protect our kids’: Lundberg calls for ‘all hands on deck’ to help get initiatives to the ballot

By BRIAN PORTER \ Rocky Mountain Voice The final days are winding down in an effort by Protect Kids Colorado to collect the signatures needed to get two initiatives on the fall ballot, former Sen. Kevin Lundberg wrote Monday in an email newsletter. Protect Kids Colorado, a coalition of grassroots citizens, worked to push Proposition 142 and 160 through the process to reach the ballot, Lundberg said. Each initiative needs 125,000 valid signatures before Wednesday, July 31. Following is the language of each measure: Prop. 142: Any public school representative who obtains information that a child enrolled in their public school is experiencing gender incongruence shall notify the child's parents. Prop. 160: Only female students, based on their biological sex at birth, may part...
