Leading Democrats pander to unions as they join King Soopers picket lines

By Elyse Apel | The Center Square King Soopers workers have gone on strike across Colorado, with prominent state leaders appearing on the picket line. The Colorado-based grocery store is one of the largest employers in the state. More than 70 stores, many of them in the Denver area, have joined the strike since it began Thursday. The United Food and Commercial Workers Local Union No. 7 initiated the two-week strike of more than 10,000 unionized workers, alleging unfair labor practices. Colorado AG Weiser joins suit against Trump over birthright citizenship order

Weiser announced his candidacy for governor on Thursday. It's customary for candidates to unveil their fundraising numbers shortly after announcing their campaign for elected office. Brambila | Denver Gazette vis Colorado Politics The owners of the troubled apartment complexes in Aurora have filed a lawsuit against Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser to block a subpoena for the company’s records in a civil investigation. Filed in Denver District Court last week by Brooklyn-based CBZ Management and its affiliated companies, the lawsuit also seeks a protective order to block the release of personal or financial information obtained in the subpoenas. Weiser declined comment. CBZ Management owns 11 properties in Colorado, including three apartment complexes in Aurora that nabbed national headlines for claims that a Venezuelan gang had taken over the buildings. Can one guy run 15,500 businesses from out of state? Attorney general sues on fraudulent filings

By Tamara Chuang | Colorado Sun The number of new companies created in Colorado in the past two years may not have set all-time records after all, after officials discovered more than 15,500 fraudulent business filings last year by a man who used a stranger’s home address. The Colorado Attorney General’s Office on Wednesday filed a consent judgment in Denver District Court to settle allegations against defendant Marcio Garcia Andrade for violating the Colorado Consumer Protection Act. Andrade, who doesn’t live in Colorado, was accused of filing the new business formations between February 2022 and August 2023 that were linked to a Northglenn townhome address “without the knowledge or consent of the homeowner and resident,” according to the AG’s lawsuit. The first question I had was why on earth Colorado's AG would be involved.  Local leaders?  Cargill big wigs?  Yeah.  Makes sense.
