Ruehmann: How Trump, RFK Jr. and Colorado Republicans can MAHA and break Big Pharma’s grip

By James Ruehmann | Guest Commentary, Rocky Mountain Voice As Coloradans, we pride ourselves on independence, resilience and fairness. Yet, hardworking families across the state are being squeezed by a crisis that strikes at the heart of these values: the skyrocketing cost of prescription drugs. While Washington debates solutions, the real answer lies in confronting the anti-competitive practices of Big Pharma that exploit loopholes, manipulate patents and stifle competition. President Trump, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and newly elected Colorado Republicans have a historic opportunity to champion reforms that prioritize patients over profits — starting with dismantling Big Pharma’s monopolistic playbook. Robert F. Kennedy Jr., recently confirmed to lead the Department of Health and Hu...

U.S. Army allowed 1,181 recruits who didn’t meet standards to train

By Wallace White | Daily Caller The U.S. Army is breaking with its own fitness standards on body fat percentage to gain more recruits, a report from the Department of Defense (DOD) Inspector General found Feb. 18. The Army Future Soldier Preparatory Course, established by the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Manpower and Reserve Affairs (ASA[M&RA]), gives recruits who do not meet base fitness standards 90 days to fall in line, and allows individuals who are as much as 8% above the required body fat percentage — 26% for men and 36% for women — to enlist. However, the DOD Investigator General found that 14% of 1,181 trainees at the Army Training Center and Fort Jackson (ATC&FJ) between February and May 2024 exceeded these expanded limits. “Aggravating the issue with the l...

Potential artificial red dye ban: Products that could be affected

By Daniella Genovese  | Fox Business A wide range of foods will be affected if the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) moves forward with plans to ban artificial red dye. According to the Eat Well Guide (EWG) Food Scores database, nearly 3,000 food products on the U.S. market contain red dye 3, including candy, certain brands of mashed potatoes, yellow rice and some medications. The list also includes a range of other foods, including breakfast cereals, beverages and baked goods.  The synthetic dye, also known as erythrosine, is an additive made from petroleum that gives foods and drinks a bright cherry-red color, according to the FDA. It is already banned in the European Union, and starting in January 2027, it will also be prohibited in foods sold or manufactured in California.  ...

Make America Healthy Again: Trump Team Hypes MAHA Dream Team

By Hannah Knudsen | Breitbart The Trump team is hyping the Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) dream team ahead of January 20, as Americans await reform that will weed out bureaucracy and corruption and make themselves, their friends, and family healthier. Breitbart News first obtained the montage featuring key members of Trump’s Cabinet pursuing the MAHA agenda. It begins with Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) describing President-elect Donald Trump’s nominees as individuals who will “shake up the status quo.” Those MAHA selections include Dr. Janette Nesheiwat as Surgeon General, Dr. Marty Makary as FDA director, former congressman and Dr. Dave Weldon as CDC director, Dr. Mehmet Oz to run the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to lead Health and Human ...

By Stephen Sorace | Fox News President-elect Trump and members of his inner circle shared a McDonald’s meal aboard Trump’s private plane, with Donald Trump Jr. posting a photo Sunday morning and joking that the Trump campaign’s mission to make Americans healthier will have to wait a day. Trump and his entourage included Elon Musk, House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., Donald Trump Jr. and, perhaps most surprisingly, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Trump’s pick for Health and Human Services secretary. Kennedy, an outspoken critic of processed foods, was pictured with McDonald’s food and a Coca-Cola. ‘Make America Great and Healthy’: Trump taps RFK, Jr., for Health and Human Services secretary

By Tyler O'Neil  | Daily Signal President-elect Donald Trump announced Thursday that he would nominate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for secretary of Health and Human Services. “I am thrilled to announce Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as The United States Secretary of Health and Human Services,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “For too long, Americans have been crushed by the industrial food complex and drug companies who have engaged in deception, misinformation, and disinformation when it comes to Public Health,” the president-elect added. “The Safety and Health of all Americans is the most important role of any Administration, and HHS will play a big role in helping ensure that everybody will be protected from harmful chemicals, pollutants, pesticides, pharmaceutical products, and...

Williams: In effort to Make America Healthy Again, let’s remove government regulations on raw milk

By Laci Williams | Commentary, Rocky Mountain Voice Do you remember when the stereotype of a “crunchy granola liberal” was an insult so partisan that no conservative dared even to step into a health food store? Well, it doesn’t seem that long ago, but with the rise of the Make America Healthy Again movement — or MAHA, as it has been coined — this insult has not only dropped its partisan label, but the label itself has shifted into something positive, a cause that both the left and the right can support. The more I research the "crunchy" movement, the more Google searches and X stalking sessions I do, the more I see that a key issue for the MAHA crowd is consuming raw milk. What Is raw milk?  So, what is raw milk? It is unpasteurized milk that has not gone through the pr...

Protesters insist Kellogg remove artificial dyes from cereals like Froot Loops, just like in Canada

By Greg Wehner | Fox Business Dozens of protesters rallied at WK Kellogg Co. headquarters in Battle Creek, Michigan, on Tuesday, calling on the company to remove artificial dyes from cereals sold in the U.S., according to reports. As the maker of some of America’s favorite cereals – like Froot Loops and Apple Jacks – Kellogg said nearly a decade ago it would take artificial colors and ingredients out of its products by 2018. In Canada, though, Kellogg uses concentrated carrot juice, watermelon juice, huito juice and blueberry juice to color Froot Loops, the company's Canadian site shows. But in the U.S., Kellogg continues to use artificial colors and butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT), which according to WebMD is a lab-made chemical added to foods as a preservative....

RFK Jr. bashes Ozempic buzz and Novo Nordisk profits, says overeating, processed foods to blame for obesity

By Gabrielle M. Etzel | Washington Examiner Former independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. criticized what he characterized as “cheerleading for Ozempic” and other breakthrough weight loss and diabetes medication, arguing that the buzz masks the root causes of the obesity epidemic. Kennedy’s post on X Thursday is framed as a comment on an opinion piece about the difficulties of defining the disease of obesity published last week in the New York Times. His main critique of the piece, however, is that the author does not note the highly processed foundation of diets in the United States or the mental health conditions associated with overeating that lead to obesity.  “Instead of fixing our food system and addressing the obesity crisis at its...
