Reps. Boebert, Evans to faceoff with Denver Mayor Mike Johnston in hearing today

By Brian Porter | Rocky Mountain Voice The national spotlight will shine brightly on Denver and Mayor Mike Johnston's sanctuary city policies during the U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform today. He's among American mayors who will appear in front of the Committee. Across the dias will be Committee member U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert and Committee waiver U.S. Rep. Gabe Evans, two Coloradans who have had a front row seat to the rise in fentanyl deaths, crime, gang influence and more they likely will attribute to having been caused by sanctuary policies. "We are going to highlight how these sanctuary city and state policies fail public safety, make America less safe, and why we need to continue the path forward to build safe communities that we all deserve,” Evans...

U.S. Rep. Boebert announces March mobile office hours in 4th District

By Rocky Mountain Voice Mobile office hours will be offered in March at eight locations throughout the 4th District for constituents to interact with the office staff of U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert. The mobile office hours are intended to offer services to constituents needing in-person guidance, in convenient locations in addition to the Eaton and Castle Rock office locations. “Our congressional mobile office hours provide an opportunity for constituents from across the 4th District to get the assistance they need from our staffers who can help them in a variety of ways,” Boebert said. “Meeting Coloradans where they are is a critical part of the work our office does, and I know our mobile office hours will be a huge help to constituents of all backgrounds and locations.” Among th...

Garbo: How Lauren Boebert earned my vote and my respect

By C. J. Garbo | Guest Commentary, Rocky Mountain Voice When Lauren Boebert announced her decision to leave Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District and run for office in the 4th, I’ll admit, I was hesitant. Like many others, I questioned her motives. Was this about finding an easier path to victory? Was it a calculated move driven by self-interest, rather than a genuine desire to serve? These doubts lingered as the primary approached, and, while I ultimately cast my vote for her, it was with reluctance, not enthusiasm. But now, mere months after her election, I can confidently say: I was wrong. What I’ve witnessed since Lauren Boebert became CD4's congresswoman has not only erased my skepticism but replaced it with deep respect and admiration. From Day 1, she has shown an unwaver...

U.S. Rep. Boebert asks Energy Sec. Wright to ‘stop land grab’ of 325K acres in Southeast Colorado

By Rachel Gabel | The Fence Post Congresswoman Lauren Boebert is the first member of the Colorado Congressional delegation to send a letter to newly minted Secretary of Energy — and fellow Coloradoan — Chris Wright asking Secretary Wright to recognize the lack of transparency and inability of landowners to provide comments about the department’s proposed National Interest Electric Transmission Corridor or NIETC (Pronounced nit-see) designation. Boebert said the disregard for the public comment period is typical of the Biden administration and in this case, the public comment period ends Feb. 14, leaving little time for landowners to oppose to what she calls a massive land grab. Baca, Kiowa and Prowers counties combined contribute $504 million in ag sales annually, an important par...

Boebert leads legislation to delist wolves from federal protection

By Lindy Browning | Contributing Writer, Rocky Mountain Voice U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colorado 4th, and U.S. Rep. Tom Tiffany, R-Wisc. 7th, have introduced the Pet and Livestock Protection Act to delist the gray wolf from the endangered species list and prioritize the safety and success of America's agriculture community. The bill would also remove the ability of a judge to rule against science, and allow states to set their own rules and regulations for the management of grey wolves. Ranchers, hunters and many people across the west who want to protect their livelihoods of their neighbors are finally feeling heard.  There is no place more than Colorado’s West Slope that supports this measure. In response to the proposed bill, Laurie J. from New Mexico said on social media,...

Letter asks Gov. Polis to lead repeal of three laws he signed which created state immigration sanctuary

By BRIAN PORTER | Rocky Mountain Voice Whether Gov. Jared Polis means what he says is the subject of a recent joint letter from three Republican members of the U.S. House to the governor. The letter dated Jan. 17, 2025, references the governor's pledge in his State of the State address to "welcome more federal help to detain and deport dangerous criminals". The statement stands in opposition to three pieces of legislation law enforcement often say tells a different story. The letter, authored on U.S. Rep. Gabe Evans letterhead, and additionally signed by U.S. Reps. Lauren Boebert and Jeff Crank, takes the governor's comments at face value. "This is undoubtedly welcome news to Coloradans, who have watched the sanctuary state policies you signed negatively impact our state — f...

‘This isn’t a goodbye,’ Rep. Boebert says in parting thoughts to 3rd District

By BRIAN PORTER | Rocky Mountain Voice In a parting message to Colorado's 3rd District Friday, U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert discussed relationships, accomplishments and a hopeful future. "I'm going to continue to be a voice for all of Colorado. This isn't a goodbye," the Republican said in a video posted to her Twitter/X account. "I will still be voting for you, even if you can't vote for me." Boebert served two terms representing the 3rd District of the Western Slope and Southern Colorado in Congress, but shifts to the Eastern Plains and Northern Colorado's 4th District in a third term. Her term expired Friday in the 3rd District, as she was sworn in to the 4th District on Friday. https://twitter.com/RepBoebert/status/1875299423716299085 "I gave you a voice in Washington, D.C...

In tight vote for Speaker, Johnson could potentially sweep four GOP votes from Colorado

By BRIAN PORTER | Rocky Mountain Voice A slight Republican margin in the U.S. House will make Speaker Mike Johnson's re-election bid later this week potentially a must-see. Republicans hold a 220-215 seat advantage in the U.S. House, but one Republican has resigned, and two other Republicans have indicated their opposition to Johnson. It takes 218 votes to win the Speaker vote. If Johnson is unable to swing either of the defectors, he doesn't win the Speaker vote — assuming Democratic members don't lend their support. U.S. Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, is at least one who has withheld his support for Johnson thus far and told Fox News there were others. He has suggested alternative Speaker options of Rep. Byron Donalds, R-Fla., or Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, both of whom have previously m...

Boebert’s Fish Recovery Act saves endangered fish, secures water for future generations

By Jen Schumann | Contributing Writer, Rocky Mountain Voice Last week, Rep. Lauren Boebert's Fish Recovery Act passed, protecting four endangered fish species and empowering water use and development. Part of the FY 2025 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), the bipartisan legislation extends two vital conservation programs while enabling thousands of water and power users to continue operations uninterrupted. “These projects, including 1,200 in Colorado alone, encompass major water reservoirs, agricultural water users, ski areas and power generation facilities that collectively use more than 3.7 million acre-feet of water per year,” Boebert said. She underscored the role these programs play in balancing environmental protection with ongoing water and power operations. In ...

After six-year struggle, Boebert’s CONVEY Act now just needs Biden’s signature to transfer land to Mesa Co.

By Jen Schumann | Contributing Writer, Rocky Mountain Voice Almost half of the land in the American West — 46.4% to be exact — is owned by the federal government. To put this into perspective, in most other parts of the nation that number sits only at 4.2%.  This often creates hurdles for local communities planning for growth. The six-year struggle to acquire a Bureau of Land Management (BLM) parcel in Mesa County demonstrates this. Even though the land was designated as surplus, federal red tape delayed its transfer.  On April 28, 2023, Congresswoman Lauren Boebert introduced the CONVEY Act to challenge this bureaucratic bottleneck. Passing the U.S. Senate with bipartisan support last week, it now awaits final approval from the President.  Once signed into law, it wi...
