L.A. caves to Trump, local residents: Pacific Palisades to reopen immediately

By Joel B. Pollak | Breitbart Los Angeles County authorities announced Sunday evening at a mayor with L.A. Mayor Karen Bass that the Pacific Palisades will be completely reopened to residents in daylight hours on Monday, January 27 — far ahead of schedule. Two days before, at a roundtable at a local fire station on Friday, Bass had told President Donald Trump that it was unsafe for residents to return. After residents at the meeting objected, Bass relented and said they could return “within a week.” Trump replied: “That’s a long time, a week. I’ll be honest, to me, everyone standing in front of their house, they want to go to work and they’re not allowed to do it. … They’re safe. They’re safe. You know what? They’re not safe. Map reveals house-by-house devastation of deadly LA fires with entire neighborhoods nearly wiped out

By Patrick Reilly | New York Post Shocking new maps show the utter destruction wrought by the deadly Palisades and Eaton fires in Los Angeles, offering a house-by-house view of impacted neighborhoods – some of which were nearly leveled completely. The two largest wildfires in the L.A. area have destroyed more than 12,000 structures and killed at least 24 people — and are expected to grow again this week as strong winds fuel the flames. An aerial view of the areas devastated by the Palisades Fire, which has torched over 23,000 acres and killed at least eight people since Tuesday, shows entire neighborhoods in some of City of Angel’s most exclusive zip codes burned to the ground near the Pacific Ocean. Franz: California’s fires show environmentalist policies can have deadly results

By  Danielle B. Franz | Commentary, National Review Ignoring basic forest stewardship while crying ‘climate change’ is nothing more than a convenient excuse to justify inaction. Tens of thousands of acres have gone up in flames in Los Angeles County, a tragedy made all the more infuriating by the fact that it was entirely preventable. California’s leaders knew this could happen — yet they chose inaction, distractions, and virtue-signaling over protecting their citizens. Governor Gavin Newsom’s priorities have been astonishingly misplaced. To appease radical environmentalists, he pushed forward initiatives to remove dams, under the guise of protecting marine species, and thereby handicapped water supplies for crucial uses such as preventing and fighting wildfires.
