By Ella Lee and Zach Schonfeld | The Hill New York’s high court on Thursday declined to halt President-elect Trump’s sentencing on his hush money criminal conviction, which is scheduled for Friday morning. In a terse note, the New York Court of Appeals’s chief clerk notified Trump’s attorneys that Judge Jenny Rivera declined to sign an order stopping the sentencing from moving forward, as the president-elect appeals and claims he is immune and the prosecution must be dismissed.  “As a result of the Judge’s determination, no motion is pending in the above title at the Court of Appeals,” the clerk wrote.  READ THE FULL STORY AT THE HILL

Trump, as the president's defense attorneys prepare to move to dismiss the case entirely.   Prosecutors wrote a letter to Judge Juan Merchan on Tuesday, who agreed last week to grant a stay on all deadlines associated with the conviction proceedings against Trump in the final months before he takes office.  Merchan granted the request, which issues a stay on all deadlines, including the Nov. 26 sentencing date, to consider the effect of his election as president.
