Two water bills by Colorado Sen. John Hickenlooper advance in lame duck session

By Marianne Goodland | Colorado Politics The race to get bills signed into law before President Joe Biden leaves office is on, and two water bills sponsored by Sen. John Hickenlooper, D-Denver, are trying to get on that list. The first is an extension of the Colorado River Basin System Conservation Act, which earlier this year put $125 million into the system conservation pilot program operated by the Upper Colorado River Commission. Under the latest iteration, the act would be extended until 2026. The system conservation pilot program is a voluntary, temporary, and compensated agreement to conserve consumptive use (or depletion) of agricultural, municipal, or industrial water. Hick: Biden’s withdrawal could ‘be in the best interests of the country’

By Ernest Luning | Colorado Politics U.S. Sen. John Hickenlooper said Wednesday that he believes it could be "in the best interests of the country" if President Joe Biden ends his bid for reelection, though the Colorado Democrat didn't call on Biden to exit the race, instead suggesting that the president could be nearing that decision. "Joe Biden has always put the country first. He's done what's best for America," Hickenlooper told Reuters in an interview. "He's working towards that." Said Hickenlooper: "That's his decision to make, but certainly there's more and more indications that that would be in the best interests of the country, I think." Hickenlooper plays politics with border security

By Colorado Peak Politics What we have here is a failure to communicate. Senate advances military aid to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan https://t.co/HM0fEz0TFI— Caitlyn Kim (@caitlynkim) February 13, 2024 When Democrats say they want border security, what they mean is Joe and Jody Taxpayer need to cough up more money by the billions to pay for an entire new infrastructure to keep borders open and migrants pouring through by the millions. When Republicans say they want border security, what they mean is Joe Biden needs to reverse his policies abusing immigration policies to allow migrants by the millions to pour through the border. And, fix the border wall where drug dealers, criminals, terrorists and human traffickers lurk. The solution to an out-of-control migrant cri...
