Poll: Majority of Hispanics favor deporting ‘all’ illegals

By Jason Hopkins  | The Daily Signal An outright majority of Hispanic Americans are in favor of a mass deportation plan for illegal immigrants, a new survey found. Fifty-three percent of Hispanic adults approve of “a new national program to deport all undocumented immigrants currently living in the U.S. illegally,” according to a CBS/YouGov poll conducted from June 5-7. Only 47% of Hispanic respondents said they opposed such a measure, which is outside the poll’s margin of error. The political and demographic breakdown of the survey further indicated widespread support for the hypothetical mass deportation plan. By Kelly Reinke, Angela Case | Denver Gazette (via 9News) The semi-truck driver who was arrested after a fatal crash on Highway 285 last week was in the United States without proper documentation and had previously been removed from the country multiple times, according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The Colorado State Patrol said Ignacio Cruz-Mendoza, 47, was arrested on vehicular homicide and vehicular assault charges after the crash Tuesday afternoon on Highway 285 near Conifer. CSP said Cruz-Mendoza's semi went off the edge of the road, rolled onto its side and dumped its load of pipe and angle iron on top of five other vehicles. The driver of one of those vehicles, 64-year-old Scott Miller of Bailey, died on the scene. Another driver suffered serious injuries. ...

Under the initiative, the Department of Homeland Security will take action to effectively grant federal protections to some undocumented spouses and children of U.S. citizens. The new program, known as “parole in place,” will affect an estimated 500,000 spouses of U.S. citizens and 50,000 children under the age of 21, administration officials said. Thanks to illegals, enrollment slump for Denver schools comes to an end

By Tom Gantert | The Center Square Denver Public Schools saw a boost in enrollment for the first time since the pandemic thanks to a surge of migrant students, according to a report the school board received this week. From 2014 to 2019, the school district’s enrollment had grown from 88,886 to 92,211. But the enrollment dropped three years in a row post-pandemic, dropping to 87,802 in 2022. In 2023, it grew to 88,258 with an additional 3,926 migrant students joining the district. By comparison, the district had 1,020 migrant students in 2021-22 and 1,543 migrant students in 2022-23. The district stated it was starting to see more migrant students leave the district after the city of Denver stated it would no longer provide long-term shelter for arriving migrants. ...

Since Denver's sanctuary city policies create their own fiscal burden, they now claim they cannot afford to keep taking care of lawbreakers they attracted in the first place.
