Democrats want to keep the U.S. border wide open as an electoral strategy

By John Daniel Davidson | The Federalist If you want to know where Vice President Kamala Harris and the Democrats stand on the border and immigration, a recent exchange between former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Bill Maher tells the tale. Pelosi recently told Maher that she supports a California bill that would give illegal immigrants taxpayer money to buy homes. Maher quipped that Democrats didn’t used to support “free housing” for illegal immigrants, and Pelosi replied, “Well, that’s not free housing. It’s the American Dream being available to more people.” When Maher noted that the California bill would make the American Dream available for the “undocumented,” Pelosi said, “Well, what I would like to do is move them to documented.” READ MORE AT THE FEDERALIST...

Dems threaten to torpedo GOP’s government funding bill targeting noncitizen voting

By Rebeka Zeljko | Daily Caller Democrats are already pushing back against a Republican-led plan that would temporarily fund the federal government until March, decrying a separate bill attached to the measure that requires proof of U.S. citizenship for voter registration. Speaker Mike Johnson is planning to introduce the continuing resolution (CR) next week with the hotly-contested SAVE Act tethered to it, which would require proof of citizenship to vote in federal elections, Punchbowl reported Tuesday. At the same time, a number of Democrats have called the effort a nonstarter and encouraged Republican lawmakers to be more “bipartisan.” “As we have said each time we’ve had a CR, the only way to get things done is in a bipartisan way and that is what has happened every time,” Sen...

Pelosi wants ‘American dream’ for illegal immigrants: ‘Move them to documented’ with funding for homes

By Heather Hunter | Washington Examiner Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said she would like to take her state’s bill that would provide taxpayer-funded home loans to illegal immigrants to the next level and make them “documented.” In an interview with HBO’s Bill Maher Friday night, the former speaker was asked about her thoughts on California lawmakers passing Assembley Bill 1840, which would give illegal immigrants money to buy homes under the state’s Housing Finance Agency’s home purchase assistance program, California Dream for All. “California lawmakers just passed a law — it hasn‘t been signed by Gov. Newsom — but giving government assistance to undocumented immigrants to buy houses,” Maher said to Pelosi. “That‘s kind of a dif...

Gov. Jared Polis flip-flops on live TV over Harris ‘supporting’ southern border wall

By Hailey Gomez | Daily Caller Democratic Colorado Gov. Jared Polis was heard floundering Sunday on ABC’s “This Week” over Vice President Kamala Harris “supporting” the construction of the U.S. southern border wall. Harris has faced repeated criticism from Republicans in recent weeks for failing to explain her flip-flops on numerous policies she campaigned on in 2020. After ABC’s Jonathan Karl pressed Polis on Harris reversing her position on funding the southern border wall, Polis claimed Democrats “have always been supportive of building barriers and walls.” “Look, this is another issue that as it gets into the public discourse is very misleading. Democrats in general, Kamala Harris, Joe Biden, you know, Barack Obama, have always been supportive of building barriers an...

Biden resumes immigration program that was suspended over fraud concerns

By Matthew Impelli | Newsweek President Joe Biden's administration is set to resume an immigration program that was previously suspended due to fraud concerns. On Thursday, the Biden administration announced that it was resuming an immigration program that permits migrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela to enter the United States. Johnston said the Denver Police Department has already been working with federal, state and other local agencies because they have been made aware of the problem early on. He said while there has been no evidence of Denver apartments being “taken over” by a Venezuelan gang, they are providing a heavier police presence in areas that have risks. Evans tours southern border near El Paso, criticizes that Caraveo has not

By BRIAN PORTER | Rocky Mountain Voice Gabe Evans, the Republican nominee for the 8th District seat in the U.S. House, visited the southern border near El Paso on Thursday. “The open-border policies of Joe Biden, Kamala Harris and Yadira Caraveo have had dire results: more deaths, a record number of individuals on the terrorist watch list crossing into the U.S., and record levels of poisonous fentanyl released into the U.S.," Evans said. "In 2023, U.S. Customs and Border Protection recorded an astonishing 2.5 million border crossings, plus an unknown additional number of got-aways." He reports 375 individuals on the terrorist watch list have been apprehended crossing into the U.S., and 99 have been released into the U.S., as of July. Evans is vying to unseat Democrat Caraveo in...
