Mayor Mike Johnston said in a statement, among other things, Denver will cooperate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in cases of violent criminals. The city will also notify ICE of a pending release if the federal agency requests that notification.  READ THE FULL STORY AT KDVR-TV FOX 31 NEWS

ICE planning to ramp up arrests of illegals in major U.S. cities after Trump takes office, sources say

By Camilo Montoya-Galvez, Fin Gómez | CBS Colorado The incoming Trump administration is planning to ramp up operations to arrest unauthorized immigrants across major U.S. cities next week after President-elect Donald Trump takes office, targeting "sanctuary" jurisdictions that limit cooperation with federal immigration officials, two sources familiar with the plans tell CBS News. The locations expected to be targeted by deportation teams from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement include those with large populations of immigrants, such as the Chicago area, one of the sources said. ICE officials in the Chicago area recently put out a request for agents to participate in the post-inauguration arrest operations, unbeknownst to top agency leaders in Washington, a U.S. off...

Douglas Co. passes resolution supporting Trump’s use of ICE and ‘safe and lawful deportation’ of illegals

By Noah Festenstein | Denver Gazette Douglas County is backing President-elect Donald Trump’s deportation plan, arguing it supports public safety, which contrasts with Denver, whose mayor has vowed to resist federal immigration agents deporting illegal immigrants in his city. On Tuesday, Douglas County commissioners unanimously approved a resolution embracing Trump’s “use of federal immigration and customs enforcement for the safe and lawful deportation of immigrants illegally in the United States,” the resolution states. “Open and insecure border policies and local sanctuary declarations and laws have resulted in a mass illegal migration into the United States," the resolution states, arguing "sanctuary" status has cost Colorado government entities over $350 million. The program, known as Cover All Coloradans, will expand Medicaid coverage to low-income pregnant women and children regardless of their immigration status. It was created through the passage of House Bill 22-1289 in 2022. “I think what we know is everybody deserves access to health care,” said Adam Fox with Colorado Consumer Health Initiative, which helped push for the passage of the law. Colorado law could complicate Trump’s mass deportation plan, Aurora Mayor Mike Coffman says

By Shaun Boyd | CBS Colorado Less than two months after President-elect Donald Trump announced "Operation Aurora" -- a.k.a. operation mass deportation -- Aurora Mayor Mike Coffman says he shouldn't expect much help in Colorado. "At this point, there's really nothing we can do -- there's nothing to prepare for -- because we really have no authority," Coffman said. It's against state law for local law enforcement in Colorado to cooperate with federal immigration agents. While Douglas County and El Paso County have challenged the law in court, unless it's overturned, Coffman says Trump will be on his own in the Centennial State. READ THE FULL STORY AT CBS COLORADO

Denver spent $138M in two years to rent, lease hotels for homeless and illegals

By Bennito L. Kelty | Westword Since Mayor Mike Johnston took office in July 2023, his administration has spent millions using hotels to address homelessness and an influx of migrants. The city bought hotels and warehouses for housing the homeless before Johnston took office, but his administration opened the coffers even more, relying largely on leftover federal COVID relief dollars. These multimillion-dollar leases and purchases include two hotels bought this year worth a combined $64 million. The hotels were used mostly for Johnston's effort to house 1,000 people before the end of 2023, and are now used to house people in his next phase of combating homelessness, known as All In Mile High.  READ THE FULL STORY AT WESTWORD

Biden-Harris admin shipping migrants to Arizona and Texas to hide border problem before Election Day: ‘It’s about optics’

By Jennie Taer | New York Post With just two weeks until the presidential election, the Biden-Harris administration is working overtime to hide its illegal migrant problem from the public’s view, furious Border Patrol agents say. ICE has been ordered to speed up deportations. And Border Patrol agents are busing and flying migrants from San Diego — where arrivals are still double what they were when President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris took office, Homeland Security sources told The Post. They’re being sent to border towns in Texas and Arizona, which have far fewer migrants. READ THE FULL STORY AT THE NEW YORK POST

Bill Clinton: Laken Riley would still be alive if Biden-Harris Admin vetted immigrants

By Shawn Fleetwood | The Federalist Just when it seemed that Kamala Harris’ campaign woes couldn’t get any worse, former President Bill Clinton admitted that the death of a Georgia girl, allegedly at the hands of an illegal alien, is the fault of the Biden-Harris border invasion. The moment came on Sunday when the 42nd president was campaigning for Harris-Walz in Central Georgia and referenced Laken Riley, a 22-year-old University of Georgia nursing student whom Jose Ibarra allegedly murdered earlier this year. As The Federalist reported, Ibarra illegally entered the United States in 2022. In a blow to Harris’ narrative as a “tough on crime” prosecutor who’s serious about border security, the former president acknowledged that Riley would still be alive ha...

J.D. Vance rips ABC’s Martha Raddatz as she downplays Venezuelan gang takeover in Colorado: ‘Do you hear yourself?’

By Ryan King | The New York Post Republican vice presidential hopeful JD Vance went off on ABC News correspondent Martha Raddatz Sunday after she tried to fact-check the senator from Ohio about the presence of Venezuelan migrant gangs in Aurora, Colo. Former President Donald Trump, 78, stumped in the Denver suburb Friday and vented that the Tren de Aragua (TdA) crime syndicate had “overrun” the city. “The incidents were limited to a handful of apartment complexes — apartment complexes and the mayor said our dedicated police officers have acted on those concerns,” Raddatz, 71, told Vance on ABC’s “This Week.” READ THE FULL STORY AT THE NEW YORK POST
