The U.S. House Committee on Government and Reform has asked Johnston to testify before the panel on March 5. The City and County of Denver inked an agreement with the law firm Covington and Burling, LLP to represent the city in the upcoming congressional inquiry into so-called "sanctuary" jurisdictions nationwide. Douglas Co. declares support for bill allowing Colorado law enforcement to work with ICE

By Noah Festenstein | The Denver Gazette Douglas County law enforcement officials on Wednesday declared support for legislation to flip a state law that has barred local officials from working with federal immigration agents. If approved by the Democrat-controlled legislature, it would reinstate a bill allowing local law enforcement to work with federal immigration officials with a focus on those who commit crimes. That bill was repealed in 2013. State Sen. Mark Baisley, Rep. Max Brooks and Rep. By Amanda Pampuro  | Courthouse News A Colorado judge on Tuesday granted a Venezuelan couple’s request for an injunction barring their landlord from discriminating against them due to their immigration status after their landlord agreed to the stipulations. “Since the Doe family moved in, the defendants have treated them as second-class tenants due to their perceived citizenship and immigration status and that is intolerable under Colorado law,” said the couple’s attorney, Anna Kurtz with the American Civil Liberties Union of Colorado. The couple, who sued their landlord anonymously in the District Court for Arapahoe County on Jan. 28, claimed landlord Avi Schwalb and property manager Nancy Dominguez used their tenants' immigration status to intimidate them. By Maddie Rhodes | KDVR-TV Fox 31 News U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement targeted over 100 members of the Venezuelan gang, Tren de Aragua, for arrest and detention as part of a multi-location immigration enforcement operation in Aurora and Denver Wednesday morning.  This operation, which the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration Rocky Mountain Division is calling the “Return to Sender Operation,” took at least 10 people into custody at the Cedar Run Apartments at 888 S. Oneida St. in Denver, according to a DEA spokesperson on scene.   The DEA Rocky Mountain Division said this was part of the operation that was expected to start in Aurora on Jan. 30. This operation was reportedly delayed because information was leaked and posed security threats. ...

El Paso County Sheriff Joe Roybal, Teller County Sheriff Jason Mikesell and U.S. Rep. DEA arrests another alleged Tren de Aragua member in Denver

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration provided few details of the arrest.  In a post on X on Wednesday, the agency said the arrest was made overnight.   The agency posted a video of the arrest, which showed a man in handcuffs being led into a law enforcement vehicle. DEA said they were investigating a drug trafficking operation in Lochbuie.  "There is a renewed sense of purpose in our mission which is removing violent criminals who are trafficking dangerous drugs like fentanyl into our communities," said Assistant Special Agent in Charge, DEA Rocky Mountain Division David Olesky.
