They argue that her detention was retaliatory, linked to her criticism of Immigration and Customs Enforcement and her activism. As a result, a court hearing scheduled for Friday was canceled, and U.S. District Judge Nina Wang instead set a status conference. The allegations came as the status conference unfolded. Vizguerra's counsel and the US Attorney have been preparing to argue over the legality of Vizguerra's detainment by ICE authorities since March 17. Jeanette Vizguerra, a 53-year-old Mexican mom of four, was once named one of Time’s 100 Most Influential People for hiding from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in a Colorado church. After years of chasing her, ICE finally got its hands on Vizguerra Monday when she was in the parking lot of the Target store in Denver where she worked, according to Jordan Garcia, another immigrant rights activist, told the New York Times.
