FEMA failed to answer nearly half of the calls for assistance, aid it received during Hurricanes Helen and Milton: report

By Chris Harris | New York Post The Federal Emergency Management Agency failed to answer nearly half of the calls for aid and assistance it recently received during Hurricanes Helene and Milton, a report released this week shows. During a recent week, FEMA’s call centers were so overwhelmed, almost half of all callers never connected with a federal working, according to data released this week. And it took federal agents on average more than an hour to actually pick up those calls that were answered. READ THE FULL STORY AT THE NEW YORK POST

DeSantis rips Harris again for butting into Milton response: ‘No role in this process’

By Ryan King | New York Post Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis briefed President Biden on the fallout from Hurricane Milton Thursday morning while hammering Vice President Kamala Harris once again over her swipe at him for not taking her call earlier this week. The Sunshine State governor chided that Harris “doesn’t understand what it means to respond to these natural disasters,” and again accused her of politicizing the crisis. “She has no role in this process. And I’ve been dealing with these storms in Florida under both [former President Donald] Trump and [President] Biden. Neither of them ever politicized it,” DeSantis told CNBC’s “Squawk Box” hours after Milton made landfall as a Category 3 hurricane. READ THE FULL STORY AT THE NEW YORK POST...

Hurricane Milton makes landfall, slamming into Florida with destructive winds, catastrophic storm surge

By Greg Norman , Anders Hagstrom , Bradford Betz , Gabriele Regalbuto , Stepheny Price , Landon Mion  | Fox News More than 3 million people are without power and more than 100 rescue missions are underway Thursday in Florida after Hurricane Milton made landfall near Siesta Key last night as a Category 3 storm, generating tornadoes that left 4 people dead in St. Lucie County. Milton, which is a Category 1 storm at the time of this report, has currently moved off Florida's east coast after lashing the state with destructive winds and dangerous flooding. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis announced that 48 people have been rescued so far and that "hundreds of rescuers [are] engaged in over 125 active missions in 26 different counties" this morning. Biden undermines Harris claim Ron DeSantis is politicizing hurricane response: ‘Doing a great job’

By Alec Schemmel | Fox News President Joe Biden praised GOP Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for being "cooperative" and doing a "great job" in his response to Hurricanes Helene and Milton, despite Vice President Kamala Harris slamming DeSantis for "playing political games" instead of doing his job in response to the storms. NBC News reported Monday that DeSantis was denying phone calls from Harris' team. "People are in desperate need of support right now and playing political games with this moment, in these crisis situations, these are the height of emergency situations, it's just utterly irresponsible, and it is selfish," Harris told reporters Monday.  Meanwhile, on Tuesday, President Joe Biden's opinion about the GOP Florida governor's response to Hurricane Helene and ...

Wavering Floridians told to get moving as Hurricane Milton closes in

By Simon Kent | Breitbart Just go. That was the message Wednesday morning for Floridians still prepared to defy orders to evacuate ahead of the landfall of Hurricane Milton as officials warned stay-behinds they face grim survival odds. Bumper-to-bumper traffic still chokes roads leading out of Tampa as some 17 percent of Florida’s nearly 8,000 gas stations had run out of fuel, according to fuel markets tracker GasBuddy. The gridlock is so bad from the evacuations in these areas, such as I-75, that the state is opening the shoulders for vehicles to use. AP reports the Tampa Bay area, home to more than 3.3 million people, faced the possibility of widespread destruction after avoiding direct hits from major hurricanes for upwards of 100 years. DeSantis blasts Kamala for Hurricane Milton comments: ‘She has no role in this process’

By Jeff Poor | Breitbart Monday, during an appearance on FNC’s “Hannity,” Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) excoriated Vice President Kamala Harris for injecting herself into his state’s storm preparation as Category 5 Hurricane Milton approaches the Sunshine State. DeSantis was reacting to comments from Harris, who called the Florida governor “selfish” to reporters. “[F]or Kamala Harris, to try to say that my sole focus on the people of Florida is somehow selfish is delusional,” he said. “She has no role in this. In fact she’s been vice president for three-and-a-half years, have dealt with a number of storms under this administration. She has never contributed anything to any of these efforts. So what I think is selfish – trying to blunder into this – know and here’s the thing – she ...

Floridians warned Hurricane Milton ready to explode

By Simon Kent | Breitbart Hurricane Milton is closing on Florida’s west coast with landfall expected as a Category 4 hurricane Wednesday night or early Thursday morning as a mass exodus continues. The extreme weather event will arrive as Floridians still work to recover from the devastation unleashed by Hurricane Helene’s impact 12 days ago. AP reports almost the entirety of Florida’s west coast was under a hurricane warning early Tuesday as the storm and its 155 mph winds crept toward the state at nine mph, drawing energy from the Gulf of Mexico’s warm water. In its 1 a.m. CDT Tuesday update, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) placed Milton just north of the Yucatan Peninsula and about 585 miles southwest of Tampa. READ THE FULL STORY AT BREITBART

Tropical Storm Milton hits hurricane force as it bears down on Florida with mass evacuations predicted

By Simon Kent | Breitbart Storm Milton strengthened from a major tropical disturbance into a Category 3 hurricane early on Monday morning, increasing the threat to Florida’s west coast, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) said in a special alert. The state is now gearing up for what could be its biggest mass evacuation in seven years as the rain-sodden behemoth heads toward major population centers including Tampa and Orlando. “While it is too soon to specify the exact magnitude and location of the greatest impacts, there is an increasing risk of life-threatening storm surge and damaging winds for portions of the west coast of the Florida Peninsula beginning Tuesday night or early Wednesday,” the NHC said in a forecast discussion. The NHC also warned of “5 to 8 inches” of rainf...
