The moment was a somber celebration of the life of a Golden Police Department officer who was killed while working just a week ago. Clear Creek Canyon wildfire grows to 200 acres overnight west of Golden, closes U.S. 6

By The Colorado Sun The Goltra fire burning in Jefferson County west of Golden “grew significantly” overnight to more than 200 acres after starting Tuesday afternoon. Clear Creek Canyon remains closed.  The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday morning the Goltra fire slowed down Monday afternoon, but then grew overnight fueled by down-canyon winds, which continued to be an issue Wednesday. More support and resources have been ordered, and U.S. 6 remains closed west of Golden to Colorado 119. Tuesday evening, the sheriff’s office said the fire was about 10 acres and burning near tunnel 1 in Clear Creek Canyon. The cause of the fire has not been identified. Mothers’ non-profit can’t have a bake sale in Golden without permit

By Karen Morfitt | CBS Colorado A group of moms raising money for charity has found themselves in a conflict with the City of Golden. The group raises money in the name of the mothers' daughters who died several years ago. As a nonprofit, they offered baked goods in exchange for donations. They set up outside the Golden Fine Arts Festival every year. This year, they received a notice stating that without the required license, they would be ticketed. Residents warned of black bear visiting historic downtown Golden

By Spencer McKee | Out There Colorado The Golden Police Department is warning residents about a bear that's been frequenting the historic downtown area of the city in recent days. At the time of a May 14 announcement, the bear had been spotted in the area over the past two days, with an image included of the bear sitting in a tree.
