Police on Friday served Moms and Mutts: Colorado Rescue for Pregnant and Nursing Dogs Inc. (MAMCO) with the suspension order. In December, the shelter had voluntarily entered into an agreement with the Colorado Department of Agriculture that placed their license on an 18-month probation after multiple violations of the Pet Animal Care and Facilities Act. But city leaders still aren’t sure how to tackle the problem after Englewood City Council came away lukewarm on a vacant-property registry. “One of the reasons why I wanted this brought forward is because over the years, I've heard that some people have chosen to use our city as a tax haven, where it is cheaper for them to leave the building unoccupied as a tax write-off than it is for them to actually profit from having the building occupied,” councilman Steven Ward said during a November 4 council study session on the topic. By Marissa Ventrelli | Colorado Politics The City of Englewood is facing criticism over a possible campaign law violation after using taxpayer dollars to purchase lawn signs advocating for the passage of one of its ballot measures.   According to Colorado Community Media, the signs, encouraging voters to approve an over $40 million bond measure for the city's parks, were purchased on July 1, before the city council officially voted to put the question on the ballot for residents.  About $2,000 in taxpayer funds was used to purchase 250 lawn signs, which read, "Yes to Parks & Recreation - Support Englewood's Parks & Recreation Bond." The signs do not disclose their funding source, another potential violation under Colorado's Fair Campaign Practices Act (FCPA)...

Plane crashes on Meridian Golf Course in Englewood, both occupants of plane walk away with only minor injuries

By Morgan Whitley | Fox 31 News South Metro Fire Rescue responded to an aircraft crash at a golf course in unincorporated Douglas County. Just before 10 a.m. Wednesday, South Metro posted on X that crews were called to the Meridian Golf Course in Englewood on reports of an aircraft that had crashed and landed upside down. According to South Metro, the aircraft was a Cessna 172 with two people on board. Both victims were able to walk away, one with minor injuries and another with no injuries.
