Mamet: Decline and fall of America? Not yet. Trump may have averted a destructive revolution

By David Mamet | Commentary, Wall Street Journal For the past four years Israel has been the leader of the free world. The Jewish state has been the West’s sole protection against Islamist terror, fighting while reviled by the people and countries it was protecting. Its position was similar to that of Donald Trump — demonized, persecuted, targeted for violence. Now that Israel and the U.S. will again be allies, we can hope Iran will be returned to the Iranian people, Gaza will become a wealthy city-state, and there will be that biblical peace in which each may sit under his fig tree and be unafraid. Rosen: Voters paved path forward for Trump, GOP majority

By Mike Rosen | Commentary, Complete Colorado Two years ago, I predicted that Joe Biden wouldn’t be on the presidential ballot by November 2024.  After Kamala Harris secured the nomination, my rosy scenario was a Trump victory riding a red wave.  (It’s true I picked Dewey over Truman in 1948, but I was only three-years-old then.) Now, all the usual Democrat suspects, the liberal media, and other assorted sore losers are up in arms over President-elect Trump’s announced selections for cabinet posts and other leadership positions in his incoming administration.  Really, Rachel Maddow and the crew of lefty wackos at MSNBC are outraged?  Isn’t that too bad?  Trump’s appropriate response should echo the eloquent words of President Barack Obama when he met with def...

Canada, Mexico to face 25% tariffs, China 10% until borders are secure, drug importation stops, Trump says

By BRIAN PORTER | Rocky Mountain Voice President-elect Donald Trump has put Canada and Mexico on notice -- close their borders with the United States or face the penalty of tariffs on all imports into the United States. Crime and drugs "at levels never seen before" are pouring through porous borders to the north and south of the United States, Trump wrote in a Truth Social post Monday. As one of his "many first Executive Orders," Trump pledged to charge Canada and Mexico 25% tariffs. "This tariff will remain in effect until such time as drugs, in particular fentanyl, and all illegal aliens stop this invasion of our country!," Trump wrote. "Both Mexico and Canada have the absolute right and power to easily solve this long simmering problem." Until they do, Trump wrote, "it is...

As more Americans warm to Trump, voters shifting to GOP, away from Dems, Pew survey says

By Stephen Dinan | The Washington Times Americans are warmer to President-elect Donald Trump now than they were in 2016 and 2020, according to a new poll that found they believe he’ll steer the economy correctly as he takes office. The Pew Research Center polled nearly 10,000 people after the election and said most expect him to make good decisions about the economy, crime issues, immigration and foreign policy, though they’re less enthused about his ability to unify the country. Some 43% said they have a warm feeling toward Mr. Trump, which while less than a majority is still better than 2016, when 36% felt that way toward him, and 2020, when that was just 34%. Trump’s pick for energy secretary, Colorado’s Chris Wright, says the real crisis is ‘energy poverty’

By Scott Weiser | The Gazette, via Colorado Politics President-elect Donald Trump’s pick for Secretary of Energy, Colorado's Chris Wright, views the world divided between the haves and have-nots — with a specific eye toward access to energy, arguing that, instead of a “climate" agenda, America should focus on ensuring a wide array of cheap, abundant and sustainable energy sources that include geothermal, nuclear, oil and gas.  He argued that this approach is the antidote to what he described as an “energy crisis,” in which a minority of the world’s population has access to abundant energy, while the rest lives in “energy poverty.” The approach, which he outlined in several articles for Colorado Politics and The Denver Gazette, will likely serve as a philosophical guidepo...

Prosecutors request stay in Trump NY case until 2029 as defense plans motion for dismissal ‘once and for all’

By Brooke Singman  | Fox News New York prosecutors are requesting a stay until at least 2029 in New York v. Trump, as the president's defense attorneys prepare to move to dismiss the case entirely.   Prosecutors wrote a letter to Judge Juan Merchan on Tuesday, who agreed last week to grant a stay on all deadlines associated with the conviction proceedings against Trump in the final months before he takes office.  Merchan granted the request, which issues a stay on all deadlines, including the Nov. 26 sentencing date, to consider the effect of his election as president.
