Donald Trump honors Jimmy Carter upon his death: ‘We all owe him a debt of gratitude’

By Paul Bois | Breitbart President-elect Donald Trump honored former President Jimmy Carter upon hearing of his death at age 100, graciously remembering him as a man who did his best “to improve the lives of all Americans.” The president-elect honored the now-deceased former president in a post on his Truth Social account Sunday. “I just heard of the news about the passing of President Jimmy Carter. Those of us who have been fortunate to have served as President understand this is a very exclusive club, and only we can relate to the enormous responsibility of leading the Greatest Nation in History,” Trump wrote. Major changes coming to Social Security regardless of Trump’s presence

By Emily Hallas | Washington Examiner In the spirit of the season, the  Washington Examiner has identified 12 issues we believe will shape and influence 2025 and beyond. The incoming Trump administration has made the fight against illegal immigration and the use of tariffs its flagship policy items. The U.S. will also possibly undergo a health revolution, while very real questions need to be answered on everything from Social Security reform to the military to the changing landscape of the energy sector. Part 3 is on Social Security. Retirees make up a larger proportion of citizens than ever before after birth rates have sunk to historic lows over the past few years, hitting below the replacement rate that is needed to sustain the United States’s population.  Nearly 73 million peo...

Democrat lawyers call for congress to block Trump from taking office

By Kristina Wong | Breitbart Two Democrat lawyers called for Congress to block President-elect Donald Trump from taking office in an op-ed published by the Hill on Thursday, prompting disbelief and ridicule from Republicans. In the piece titled “Congress has the power to block Trump from taking office, but lawmakers must act now,” lawyers Evan A. Davis and David M. Schulte argued that the Constitution says an insurrectionist is ineligible to be president and “the evidence of Donald Trump’s engaging in such insurrection is overwhelming.” They argued that the “matter has been decided in three separate forums” — one of which they said was the Rep. Nancy Pelosi-appointed January 6th Committee — which a recent House Republican review into the committee concluded was “designed...

Geraghty: Trump prioritizes purchases of mineral-rich Greenland from Denmark

By Jim Geraghty | National Review On the menu today: I doubt it will ever come to pass, but sometimes President-elect Donald Trump is like a dog with a bone — he just keeps going at it. With just 25 days until Inauguration Day, Trump is bringing up his dream of purchasing the giant, sparsely populated, mineral-rich, and darn cold island of Greenland from Denmark. There’s simultaneously a genuine U.S. geopolitical advantage at stake — but also a sparsely populated, vast frozen island whose economy is currently dependent on subsidies from Denmark. Here We Know That Christmas Will Be Greenland and Bright . . . On Christmas Day, President-elect Trump shared on Truth Social his wishes for a merry Christmas “to the people of Greenland, which is needed by the United States...

Kittle: Check yourself, PolitiFact. Here are the biggest ‘Lies of the Year’

By M.D. Kittle | Commentary, The Federalist I can only imagine how much delusion filled the room of the PolitiFact “brainstorming” session to choose the “winning” selection of its latest “Lie of the Year.” Bonchie at RedState nailed it with a post on X musing about what the meeting must have looked like through the eyes of a fresh-faced intern yet to realize that PolitiFact is nothing more than a leftist propaganda operation.  READ THE FULL COMMENTARY AT THE FEDERALIST

Sheffield: From illegal immigration to ‘no tax on tips,’ Youngkin models states working with Trump

By Carrie Sheffield  | Commentary, Daily Signal Virginia Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin is demonstrating how states should work together with President-elect Donald Trump to enact a smart, conservative agenda. This is key leadership by Youngkin as some blue state governors vow to impede Trump’s agenda at every turn. For example, Youngkin recently announced his budget proposal to crack down on the Old Dominion’s sanctuary cities. Youngkin’s “No Sanctuary Cities” budget proposal would require local law enforcement, sheriffs, and jail directors to fully comply with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainers and provide notification to U.S. Customs 48 hours prior to the release of an illegal immigrant who commits a crime. Youngkin also wants funding withheld f...

Craffey: How Trump can make the auto industry great again

By Matthew Craffey | Commentary, The Federalist When President-elect Donald Trump is sworn in as our 47th president of the United States on January 20, 2025, he will inherit an auto industry that has been greatly diminished in recent years. There are many reasons for this decline, including the misguided environmental policies of the Biden administration, Chinese market manipulation and exploitation, and trade deals and regulations that cripple American auto manufacturers. Just how bad are things? Well, Stellantis (the parent company of Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, and Ram) reported a 48 percent profit decline in the first half of 2024, followed by a 27 percent drop in the third quarter. Astronomical fuel-efficiency fines from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) h...

Trump calls for government to shut down ‘now’ as GOP preps 11th-hour vote

By Josh Christenson | The New York Post President-elect Donald Trump blamed President Biden on Friday for the impending fiscal cliff-dive and suggested the government should shut down “now” — even as congressional Republicans are preparing an eleventh-hour push to approve short-term funding before midnight. “If there is going to be a shutdown of government, let it begin now, under the Biden Administration, not after January 20th, under ‘TRUMP,'” the incoming president declared around 8 a.m. Friday on Truth Social. “This is a Biden problem to solve, but if Republicans can help solve it, they will!” A few hours later, just after 10 a.m., Rep. Ralph Norman (R-SC) told reporters that the House GOP was preparing a package for a vote in the Rules Committee — which, if approved...

More than three dozen Republicans say no deal to Trump-backed spending bill as shutdown nears

By Elizabeth Elkind , Aubrie Spady | Fox News A bill to avert a partial government shutdown that was backed by President-elect Trump failed to pass the House of Representatives on Thursday night. Congress is inching closer to the possibility of a partial shutdown, with the deadline coming at the end of Friday. The bill needed two-thirds of the House chamber to pass, but failed to even net a majority. Two Democrats voted with the majority of Republicans to pass the bill, while 38 GOP lawmakers bucked Trump to oppose it. READ THE FULL STORY AT FOX NEWS american-relief-act-2025Download

Trump meets with TikTok CEO at Mar-a-Lago as ban on app looms

By David Krayden | The Post Millennial TikTok CEO Shou Chew met with Trump at Mar-a-Lago on Monday, a person familiar with the meeting told CNN, as the company seeks the intervention of the Supreme Court in its battle with the federal government. On Dec. 6 the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit upheld the federal government’s ban on TikTok over concerns with national security. To avoid the ban of the app, Chinese company ByteDance is required to divest from the social media platform. The Trump-Chew meeting is reportedly the first time the two have talked in person since Trump won the presidency on Nov. 5. Chew has reportedly been hoping to land some time with the President-elect, who has been meeting with other big tech executives at Mat-a-Lago. ...
