Sloan: With Biden out and Harris in, don’t toll the victory bell just yet

By Kelly Sloan | Commentary, Rocky Mountain Voice In the pantheon of political events, Joe Biden’s belated decision to become the first sitting President since Lyndon B. Johnson to not seek re-election was about as surprising as the advent of the sunrise at dawn. Even had George Clooney not bestowed the nation with the gravitas of his august thoughts on the matter, the weight of internal opposition – not to mention the polling that was looking increasingly grim for the aging and often bewildered President – was such that the decision was destined to be made sooner than later.  It’s telling, somewhat, that Biden refused to proffer any explanation for his withdrawal during his Oval Office address. The exact circumstances surrounding his acceptance of the ultimate decision – esp...

Colorado Democrat Jason Crow named to U.S. House task force investigating Trump assassination attempt

By Ernest Luning | Denver Gazette Congressional leaders on Monday named Colorado's U.S. Rep. Jason Crow to a bipartisan House task force charged with investigating the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump. Crow, a decorated Army Ranger veteran and member of the House Intelligence Committee, will serve as the lead Democrat on the 13-member panel, House Speaker Mike Johnson and Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries announced. “We have the utmost confidence in this bipartisan group of steady, highly qualified, and capable members of Congress to move quickly to find the facts, ensure accountability, and help make certain such failures never happen again,” Johnson and Jeffries said in a joint statement. Trump indeed was struck by would-be assassin’s bullet in Butler, Penn., FBI says

By The Associated Press, via Politico Nearly two weeks after Donald Trump’s near assassination, the FBI confirmed Friday that it was indeed a bullet that struck the former president’s ear, moving to clear up conflicting accounts about what caused the former president’s injuries after a gunman opened fire at a Pennsylvania rally. “What struck former President Trump in the ear was a bullet, whether whole or fragmented into smaller pieces, fired from the deceased subject’s rifle,” the agency said in a statement. The one-sentence statement from the FBI marked the most definitive law enforcement account of Trump’s injuries and followed ambiguous comments earlier in the week from Director Christopher Wray that appeared to cast doubt on whether Trump had actually been hit by a bulle...

Donald Trump vs Kamala Harris: What do the betting markets say?

By Eric Revell | Fox Business President Biden's decision on Sunday to drop out of the presidential race and Vice President Harris gaining the support to become the Democratic Party's presumptive nominee hasn't caused a dramatic shift in betting markets' views of the matchup with Republican nominee former President Trump. Biden's decision on Sunday to withdraw from the race came after intense pressure from Democrat politicians who were concerned about his waning support amid concerns over his health and mental acuity in the wake of his poor debate performance against Trump on June 27. Biden's odds of winning a second term plunged from about 45% on PredictIt on the eve of the debate to 15% on Saturday, the day prior to his decision to withdraw. Bettors on Polymarket cut his odds fro...

Trump campaign files FEC complaint to block Biden’s $91M war chest from going to Harris

By Hailey Gomez  | The Daily Signal Former President Donald Trump’s campaign filed a Federal Election Commission complaint Tuesday alleging President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris are in violation of campaign finance laws after transferring $91.5 million to Harris’ presidential campaign. The complaint, which was first reported by The New York Times, was filed by Trump’s campaign’s general counsel, David Warrington, and comes after Harris announced her confirmation of delegates to be the Democrat’s new presumptive presidential nominee. “Kamala Harris is seeking to perpetrate a $91.5 million heist of Joe Biden’s leftover campaign cash—a brazen money grab that would constitute the single largest excessive contribution and biggest violat...

Trump asking for ‘equal time’ on air during Biden’s Oval Office ‘campaign commercial’

By Annabella Rosciglione | Washington Examiner As President Joe Biden gives an Oval Office address to the nation Wednesday, former President Donald Trump is asking ABC, NBC, and CBS to give him equal airtime.  In a letter obtained by the New York Times, Trump’s campaign sent a letter to the three networks demanding he be given equal airtime as the campaign believes the speech will be used as a campaign event. Earlier this week, Biden announced he would address the nation from the White House about his exit from the presidential race and how he plans to tackle the remaining months of his presidency. “It appears that President Biden’s speech will not be a bona fide news event, but rather, a prime-time campaign commercial,” Trump campaign general counsel Davi...

Trump says he will ‘absolutely’ debate Kamala Harris, says he would do ‘more than one’

By HENRY RODGERS | The Daily Caller Former President Donald Trump said he would “absolutely” debate Vice President Kamala Harris, even adding that he would do more than one, while on a press call Tuesday. On a call with reporters, Trump was asked about debating Harris since Biden dropped out of the race, to which Trump said he was not thrilled with ABC News but that he wants to debate Harris, and believes it is important to do so. Harris, who’s running based on a party insider vote with no primary voter approval, said Monday she had secured enough verbal commitments from DNC delegates to clinch her party’s nomination. Three hundred California delegates voted to back Harris on Monday night — all during a private Zoom call. “Absolutely. I’d want to. I think it’s important. I’m not t...

Swearer: Why the 2nd Amendment is more crucial than ever after attempt to kill Trump

By Amy Swearer | The Daily Signal A 20-year-old man with a rifle, perched atop a nearby roof, fired several rounds July 13 at Donald Trump as the former president spoke at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, killing one attendee and wounding at least two others. As we know now, one round nicked Trump’s right ear and he avoided a serious wound or death with a fortuitous head turn that moved him out of the bullet’s path at the last second. Almost immediately, some gun control activists saw the attempted assassination as an opportunity to call for their wish list of more restrictions on the constitutional right to keep and bear arms. Talk about missing the point. READ THE FULL STORY AT THE DAILY SIGNAL Editor's note: Opinions expressed...

Trump promised to end ‘inflation nightmare’ in RNC speech. Here’s his plan.

By Megan Henney | Fox Business Former President Donald Trump vowed to end the ongoing inflation crisis during his keynote speech at the Republican National Convention, promising that he would work to bring high prices down if he wins the November election. "We’ve had the worst inflation we’ve ever had under this person," Trump said in the Thursday night speech, referring to President Biden. "Inflation has been a killer for our country. No matter what you’re making, it doesn’t matter because inflation is eating you alive." The Republican nominee laid out several proposals that he said would reduce inflation or provide relief from steep prices, including eliminating taxes on tips, raising tariffs on other countries and drilling for more oil in the U.S. Although inflatio...

Zuckerberg: Donald Trump’s reaction to being shot ‘most badass things I’ve ever seen in my life’

By BRIAN PORTER | Rocky Mountain Voice Elon Musk is not the only social media mogul digging former President Donald Trump these days. During a Thursday interview with the New York Times, the founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, detailed his reaction to the attempted assassination of Mr. Trump at his final campaign rally, before accepting the Republican Party's nomination for President. He described Mr. Trump as a "badass" for his immediate response to the shooting. A kill shot missed its mark when Mr. Trump turned his head slightly right before impact and his right ear was grazed by the bullet. “Seeing Donald Trump get up after getting shot in the face and pump his fist in the air with the American flag is one of the most badass things I’ve ever seen in my life,” Zuckerberg to...
