‘We’re about to get annihilated’: Musk, DOGE descend on consumer bureau

By  Julia Shapero  | The Hill The Trump administration is moving rapidly to gut the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), halting the agency’s work, cutting off its funding and shutting down its headquarters.  The push is not unlike the effort launched in the early years of President Trump’s first term to defang the agency, which has faced staunch opposition from Republicans throughout its brief existence.  However, as Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) sweeps into one agency after another with the directive to slash wide swaths of government funding, the new assault on the CFPB has sparked concerns from consumer advocacy groups and Democratic lawmakers about just how far the administration will go this time.  READ THE FULL STORY ON THE...

Bessent sets the record straight on ‘misinformation’ about DOGE’s work

By Leah Barkoukis | TownHall Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on Thursday addressed the "misinformation" being circulated about the work the Department of Government Efficiency is doing. In an interview with Bloomberg, Bessent said he vetted the Treasury employees tasked with accessing federal payment data, noting they have read-only access and are not “tinkering” with payment systems in any way. “It is an operational review. It is not an ideological review,” Bessent told Saleha Mohsin, according to Bloomberg. “The ability to change the system sits over at the Federal Reserve. We don’t even run the system.”  READ THE FULL STORY ON TOWNHALL

‘Accountability is coming’: Joni Ernst sends Musk’s DOGE ‘a trillion dollars’ worth of ideas to gut gov’t spending

By Harold Hutchison | Daily Caller Republican Sen. Joni Ernst of Iowa sent Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) co-chairs Tesla CEO Elon Musk and former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy a letter Monday with ideas for cuts that could save the federal government over $2 trillion. Trump named Musk and Ramaswamy as co-chairs of DOGE on Nov. 12. In the seven-page letter, Ernst’s suggestions ranged from addressing unused space in buildings to uncommitted spending for COVID relief, with the proposed cuts totaling over $2 trillion. Ernst has focused on government waste since her election to the United States Senate in 2014, with a recent focus on the effects of telework and remote work on federal agencies. Musk and Ramaswamy: The DOGE plan to reform government

By Elon Musk and  Vivek Ramaswamy | Commentary, The Wall Street Journal Our nation was founded on the basic idea that the people we elect run the government. That isn’t how America functions today. Most legal edicts aren’t laws enacted by Congress but “rules and regulations” promulgated by unelected bureaucrats—tens of thousands of them each year. Most government enforcement decisions and discretionary expenditures aren’t made by the democratically elected president or even his political appointees but by millions of unelected, unappointed civil servants within government agencies who view themselves as immune from firing thanks to civil-service protections. This is antidemocratic and antithetical to the Founders’ vision. It imposes massive direct and indirect costs on taxpayers. Th...

Musk and Ramaswamy’s DOGE opens hiring on X

By Eric Revell  | Fox Business The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which President-elect Trump put Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy in charge of, announced on Thursday that it is opening up hiring to interested candidates. DOGE wrote in a post on Musk-owned X that those who want to work on its cost-cutting push should send their résumés via direct message on X. To send a DM to the DOGE account, users are currently required to be verified, which entails at least an $8-per-month premium X subscription. "We are very grateful to the thousands of Americans who have expressed interest in helping us at DOGE. We don't need more part-time idea generators. We need super high-IQ small-government revolutionaries willing to work 80+ hours per week on unglamorous c...
