Van Jones: Conversation needed in Democratic Party over ‘anti-Jewish bigots’ following Walz pick

By Yash Roy | The Hill CNN commentator Van Jones called for conversations about antisemitism in the Democratic party after Vice President Harris announced Tuesday that Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) would be her running mate on the November ballot. “You can be for the Palestinians without being an anti-Jewish bigot, but there are some anti-Jewish bigots out there,” Jones said Tuesday on CNN, following the announcement. “And there has to be conversations about how much of what just happened is caving into some of these darker parts in the party. So that’s going to have to get worked out. It’s going to have to get talked through.”  “So here’s the challenge you’ve got in this party, and people don’t want to talk about it,” Jones continued. “We got to talk about ...

Hammer: The bloodless coup of Joe Biden will not work out well for Democrats

By Josh Hammer  | Commentary, The Daily Signal The Democratic Party ruling class’ bloodless coup of their own democratically elected presidential nominee, who also happens to be the nominal sitting president of the United States, is one of the most astonishing political developments of my lifetime. Joe Biden, though clearly physically and mentally impaired, has sought the presidency for quite literally longer than I have been alive. Biden had been defiant ever since the June 27 presidential debate debacle that he was not going anywhere, despite overwhelming pressure from party elites and sycophantic media lap dogs demanding he do precisely that. He has a Lady Macbeth-like wife who craves power and he has a felonious son in desperate need of a presidential pardon. Yet the...

Ready or not, DNC gives would-be Harris rivals three days to declare, could push for VP pick in a week

By ELENA SCHNEIDER | Politico If anyone is going to challenge Vice President Kamala Harris for the Democratic presidential nomination, they have only until this weekend to do it. Delegates to the Democratic National Convention rules committee approved the virtual roll call on Wednesday, moving ahead with a July 30 deadline for candidates seeking to collect delegate signatures to appear on the virtual roll call. The virtual roll call, which must be completed by Aug. 7 to comply with Ohio ballot access deadlines, could start as early as next Thursday. The compressed timeline — nominating Harris less than two weeks after President Joe Biden withdrew from the presidential race — nearly guarantees the vice president’s path to the nomination, given the wide swath of support she’s picked...

Gov. Polis would consider VP run with Kamala Harris, if asked, he tells CNN

By Thelma Grimes | Colorado Politics If asked, Gov. Jared Polis said he would seriously consider becoming the vice-presidential candidate behind Vice President Kamala Harris, who is working to secure the official Democratic nomination for president in 2024. After President Joe Biden officially dropped out of the race on Sunday, he endorsed Harris to take his spot as the Democratic presidential candidate. The change led to more discussion about who could be her running mate. Polis joked about the prospect during the Monday morning interview with CNN’s Dana Bash, saying he would consider it if called while noting that he loves the work he is currently doing in Colorado. Joe Biden is out of the race. Here’s what happens to his $96 million campaign fund

By Ross Kohan and Daniel Kuhn | The Street There’s a $96 million question hanging in the air…what happens to the bundle President Joe Biden’s re-election campaign has yet to spend, now that he’s out of the race? Since Vice President Kamala Harris was already on the ticket, she has access to that money. In addition, her campaign already raised more than $50 million in the hours immediately after President Biden backed her to take his place in the race. But Harris doesn’t automatically replace her boss, which means another contender could step in to challenge Harris. If they do, they won’t have access to any of that cash, which essentially means they’ll be starting from zero. There are some exceptions of course, if a member of the Senate or the House takes over for Biden, leftover m...

Biden ends bid for second term in White House as he drops out of his 2024 rematch with Trump

By Paul Steinhauser , Brooke Singman | Fox News President Joe Biden announced Sunday that he will suspend his 2024 re-election campaign amid mounting pressure from his Democratic colleagues on Capitol Hill, top donors and Hollywood stars after a disastrous debate performance last month. The unprecedented announcement came as an increasing number of Democrat lawmakers had begun to publicly call for Biden to step aside and the party's leadership reportedly was engaged in efforts to convince Biden, 81, he could not win in November's general election against former President Trump, the 2024 GOP nominee who Biden defeated four years ago to win the White House. "It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve as your president," Biden wrote in a public letter. "While it has been my i...

Study: More voters still registered Democrat, but GOP gaining ground nationally

Buy Stephen Dinan  | The Washington Times Democrats still have an overall advantage over the GOP in terms of registered voters, but Republicans have narrowed the gap significantly since 2020, according to a new study. Across the 30 states where voters register by party, 37.6% of them identify as Democrats, down from 40% just after the last presidential election. Republicans, meanwhile, have grown their share from 29.8% to 30.3%, according to JMC Analytics, a Louisiana-based political polling firm.  Looking specifically at states deemed critical to the outcome of this year’s election, Democrats have also lost ground while the GOP is holding steady. JMC said Democrats’ share of voters went from 38.8% in early 2021 to 35.5% as of the start of this month. Republicans ha...
