‘We are in crisis mode’: After meeting is blocked, Republicans further discuss removal of chairman

By BRIAN PORTER | Rocky Mountain Voice BRIGHTON -- A who's who of Colorado Republican Party leadership here Saturday was still unable to answer a pressing question: Are they a minority faction or a unified movement for change? It could not be answered, they say, because a court order prevented their meeting of the party's Central Committee. Those in attendance here at Faith Fellowship Church had planned to discuss the removal of State Chairman Dave Williams, and possibly his vice-chair and secretary in a sweeping change at the state office. The court order preventing it was decided about 24 hours earlier, reportedly without their notice. "We are in crisis mode," Sen. Barb Kirkmeyer said. "We are one vote from a super majority in the [State] Senate and in the [State] House of 65 me...

Colorado GOP sues county Republican officers to block effort to remove Dave Williams as party chair

By Ernest Luning | Colorado Politics The Colorado Republican Party sued two county GOP officers late Thursday in an attempt to block a group of Republicans from removing Dave Williams as the state party's chairman. In a lawsuit filed in Arapahoe County District Court, Williams, on behalf of the state GOP, asks the court to rule that an upcoming meeting of the state party's central committee — called by Williams' critics to consider whether to fire Williams — won't qualify as official party business. The lawsuit also asks the court to prevent defendants Nancy Pallozzi, the Jefferson County GOP chair, and Todd Watkins, the El Paso County GOP vice chair, from using party email accounts, the state GOP's logo and the official party database to pursue their efforts to oust Williams...

Williams is running against conservative commentator and activist Jeff Crank, who has been endorsed by U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson, in the El Paso County district where U.S. Rep. Doug Lamborn, R-Colorado Springs, is retiring at the end of his ninth term. Whoever wins the primary is almost certain to win the general election in the highly Republican district.  That’s why the 5th District spending by outside political groups, more than what’s spent by outside groups in any of the state’s othe...

Commentary: Williams can’t drain the swamp while he’s stuck in the mud

By Colorado Peak Politics Republican Party Chairman Dave Williams won the support of his party delegates during a district assembly to qualify for the ballot in the 5th congressional district election to replace retiring U.S. Rep. Doug Lamborn. It’s no surprise that delegates who also voted for Williams last year to serve as chairman would also back his congressional race. That’s why other top contenders for the seat took the alternate route to get on the ballot through the petition process with voters, which requires a minimum of 1,500 valid signatures. rEAD THE FULL COMMENTARY AT COLORADO PEAK POLITICS
