Family says cops have been called on them 20 times for having ‘too bright’ of Christmas lights

By Rhea Jha | CBS 11 News A family in Colorado is stumped as to why neighbors have called police on them 20 times for having “too bright” of Christmas lights. Erica and Joshua Montgomery, who live in Castle Rock near Denver, said they keep receiving complaints that their Christmas lights are too bright. They said they feel like they are being harassed because there are houses on their street with far more decorated displays. “There are other neighbors with more Christmas lights just on the same block … it blew my mind that it was us that they were targeting,” Joshua Montgomery said. Colorado crime experts urge ‘misdemeanor reform’ to combat crime

By Noah Festenstein | Colorado Politics via Denver Gazette A panel of experts on Tuesday argued that certain crimes should be a felony, instead of a misdemeanor, and Colorado's policymakers should give law enforcement the right tools to go after criminals. That approach might entail pushing back on policies throughout the state and in municipalities, according to the panelists at the Common Sense Institute’s (CSI) annual summit. Moderated by Executive Editor of The Gazette, Vince Bzdek, three panelists discussed tackling crime through data-driven strategies. The Panelists included 18th Judicial District Attorney John Kellner, Weld County Sheriff Steve Reams and CSI criminal justice expert and fellow Mitch Morrissey, a former Denver District Attorney. Washington Examiner: The Left’s troubling violent rhetoric

By The Washington Examiner | Commentary President-elect Donald Trump’s commanding reelection victory understandably upset many on the Left who tried for nearly a decade to demonize his brand of populist politics as outside the boundaries of acceptable political discourse. But in the past week, two incidents in New York have triggered an outburst of violent rhetoric that condemns anti-Trumpian leftist rhetoric. After a Manhattan jury on Monday unanimously found Daniel Penny not guilty of criminally negligent homicide for the death of a mentally ill homeless man who was threatening subway riders, the leaders of Black Lives Matter of Greater New York called for violence. BLM of Greater New York co-founder Hawk Newsome shouted, “It’s a small world, buddy,” as ...

Lone Tree police investigating increase in crash-and-grab home burglaries

By Rachel Saurer | Fox 31 News Over the past several weeks, the Lone Tree Police Department has seen an increase in home burglaries.
