2 Colorado counties and RTD use taxpayer dollars on political consultants to generate more tax dollars

By Shaun Boyd | SOURCE: CBS News As Coloradans brace for massive property tax spikes, some local governments are quietly laying the groundwork for ballot measures that would hike taxes even further, and a loophole in Colorado state law allows them to use your tax dollars to figure out how to get more of your tax dollars. Under state law, a government entity can't spend more than $50 to support a measure after it's on the ballot, but there's no limit on what they can spend before it makes the ballot. Natalie Menten, founder of Colorado Engaged, says the Jefferson County Board of County Commissioners is among those using the loophole to run political campaigns on the public's dime. A political activist, government watchdog and chief nemesis of the commissioners, Menten says they're ...

Caldara: Let’s bring back 4-year TABOR overrides

By Jon Caldara | SOURCE: COMPLETE COLORADO PAGE TWO (You can listen to this column, read by the author, here.) The former head of the leftist ProgressNow Colorado, who is married to a U.S. congresswoman living in Jefferson County, has donated to the election campaigns of all three of the current Jefferson County commissioners. So, what a coincidence those same Jefferson County commissioners, all Democrats, are now going to pay him $180,000 to help dupe taxpayers out of TABOR refunds. As reported by the news site CompleteColorado.com (a project of Independence Institute, which I run), 7th Congressional District U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen’s husband, Ian Silverii, has just inked a spectacular deal from Jefferson County. His firm “won” a $340,000 con...

Congresswoman’s husband paid with tax dollars for campaign to hike taxes

SOURCE: COLORADO PEAK POLITICS Congresswoman Brittany Pettersen has been in office less than a year but already her family is cashing in on the public’s dime. Joe Biden would be so proud. Pettersen’s husband, Ian Silverii, is the former director of ProgressNow, whose consulting firm landed a $340,000 contract with Jefferson County under a questionable bidding process, reports Page Two over at Complete Colorado. Silverii’s personal consulting fee is $180,000, while JeffCo taxpayers pay Silverii’s firm for political campaign services to raise their taxes. Jefferson County is paying Rep. Brittany Petterson's husband $180K in taxpayer money for a consulting fee to help the county persuade taxpayers to give up their TABOR refunds.Something doesn't smell right here.https:/...

Rand Paul claims Fauci ‘should be in prison’ over COVID ‘dishonesty’

By Emily Jacobs, Washington Examiner | SOURCE: The Gazette Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) said on Sunday that Dr. Anthony Fauci “should go to prison” for his “dishonesty” regarding how he handled the COVID-19 pandemic as the nation’s chief medical adviser.  Paul, a former ophthalmologist, made the comments in an appearance on WABC 770 AM’s The Cats Roundtable while rehashing his differences with Fauci on the pandemic’s origins and the latter’s transparency with Congress.  “For his dishonesty, frankly, he should go to prison. Do you think the scientific knowledge that was gained from this research was worth the deaths of 20 million people?” Paul told host John Catsimatidis of Fauci. “If you lie to Congress, and you’re dishonest, and you won’t accept  ...

Husband of Rep. Brittany Pettersen lands hefty Jefferson County consulting gig; questions swirl around bid process

By Sherrie Peif | SOURCE: Complete Colorado Page Two LAKEWOOD — Despite voters in Jefferson County (Jeffco) overwhelmingly rejecting higher taxes twice in the last three years, the Democrat-controlled county commission is back at it again. Only this time, they are willing to pay big money to a political consulting company co-owned by Ian Silverii, the activist husband of US Representative Brittany Pettersen, whose congressional district includes Jeffco. Silverii is hoping he can help secure what looks to be another ballot initiative to de-TABOR county revenues and/or raise taxes in some form. However, multiple problems with the process around how and to whom Jeffco awarded the hefty contract, appear to signal inside connections influencing the decision. On Nov. 2, 2023, Jeffco’...

Fauci’s Congressional Hearing Exposes Troubling Revelations

SOURCE: thelobby-co.com This week, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the face of the US Covid response, faced a two-day closed-door congressional hearing aimed at uncovering crucial facts about his role in gain-of-function research in Wuhan, scientific censorship, and the societal harms of Covid policies. While a public hearing is scheduled for later this year, Chairman of the US Select Subcommittee on Covid, Brad Wenstrup (R-Ohio), released a summary statement detailing some of the shocking revelations that emerged from the closed-door session. One of the most alarming revelations was the admission that the widely accepted "6 feet apart rule" for social distancing was not based on any data. According to Chair Wenstrup, Fauci was quoted as saying, "it just sort of appeared." This admissio...
