Dave Williams will not seek second term as Colorado GOP chairman

By Brian Porter | Rocky Mountain Voice Dave Williams will become the fifth straight one-term chairman of the Colorado Republican Party, announcing the decision in an email to members Friday not to seek re-election. "After much prayerful consideration, I have decided not to seek re-election as chairman of the Colorado Republican Party," he announced. Williams was elected in 2023 to succeed Kristi Burton Brown as chairwoman, bringing in what he had described as a "grassroots majority" era of the party. He was the fifth in a string of one-term party leaders, including before Burton Brown: Ken Buck, preceded by Jeff Hays, preceded by Steve House. This legal standard was actually established by the U.S. Supreme Court in the Jones case in 2000. In 2021, the State Republican Central Committee unanimously approved a resolution calling for a legal challenge of Prop. 108. GOP more represents working class, addresses top concerns, Colorado voters say in poll

By Elyse Apel | The Center Square Colorado voters are waning in their support for the Democrat Party, a new poll finds, as immigration and the economy continue to be top concerns. The Colorado Issues Poll, conducted by One Main Street Colorado, reported that 30% of those surveyed considered the economy and cost of living to have been their most important Election Day issue, while 24% said inflation. Republicans drove those numbers, with 51% of supporters of President Donald listing the economy and 53% immigration. By Mark Hillman | Commentary, MarkHillman.com If you’re 40 or older, today’s Colorado is very different politically than the state where you grew up – assuming you grew up here. Except for Lyndon Johnson’s landslide win over Barry Goldwater in 1964, no Democrat won more than 45% in Colorado between 1952 and 2000. When Bill Clinton won Colorado in 1992 (with 40% in a three-way race), we became a “swing state” in presidential races through 2008.  Three of those elections were decided by less than 5%. Republicans’ most decisive win in that era was George W. Bush by 8.4% in 2000.  Ranked by margin of victory, Colorado was then 19th most-Republican state, darker red than Ohio, Missouri, Tennessee, Florida or Iowa.
