5th District debate between Crank, Gassen is Tuesday, hosted by Gazette, KOAA

By The Rocky Mountain Voice Republican Jeff Crank and Democrat River Gassen will meet Tuesday in a 5th District debate hosted by the Colorado Springs Gazette and KOAA-TV NBC 5 in coordination with the El Pomar Foundation. The winner of the race will replace U.S. Rep. Doug Lamborn in the U.S. House of Representatives at the end of his term. The debate will take place from 4-5:30 p.m. at the Penrose House Garden Pavilion, 1661 Mesa Ave. in Colorado Springs. More detail on the debate is available at The Gazette or KOAA-TV NBC 5.

Current congressman Doug Lamborn announced his retirement in January, after nearly two decades in the seat, leaving an open spot for a new lawmaker in a seat that has never been held by a Democratic candidate since its creation. Election Day is Tuesday, June 25. Registered voters should have received a mailed ballot or will in the coming days. Those Coloradans who are not yet registered to vote may do so in a couple of ways with various deadlines. Register at GoVoteColorado.gov through June 17, in order to receive a ballot by mail. Doug Lamborn. "I am strongly leaning toward becoming a candidate," Bruce, a former state lawmaker from Colorado Springs and El Paso County commissioner, told Colorado Politics. The anti-tax advocate said he plans to decide within weeks whether to jump in a primary field that has swelled since Lamborn's surprising announcement last month that he would not seek a 10th term in Congress.
