American Airlines flight from JFK airport diverted after bomb threat

An American Airlines flight traveling from New York City’s John F. Kennedy International Airport to India was diverted to Italy under a fighter jet escort following a bomb threat.
American Airlines Flight 292, a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, was near Turkmenistan when it was forced to turn around and land in Rome due to a "possible security issue," the airline said. The plane, carrying approximately 285 passengers, was escorted by two Italian Air Force Eurofighter Typhoon jets after the alert, according to a report by the Daily Mail. The flight had originally departed JFK at around 8:30 pm ET on Saturday.
