Jared Polis said that while he had "major problems" with an earlier proposal that sought to inoculate immigrants from federal policies, the bill now includes "workable language," thereby signaling his intent to sign it. The governor reiterated he is still reviewing the proposal, which underwent several changes before its final passage during the 2025 legislative session. At its core, Senate Bill 276 reemphasized existing state law that precludes local law enforcers from detaining an individual based on an "immigration detainer." Ann Arbor police investigate beating of jewish University of Michigan Student

Pollak | Breitbart Police in Ann Arbor, Michigan, said Sunday night that they are investigating a reported beating of a Jewish student by a group of males in the early hours of Sunday morning, and that they are considering it a potential crime of “bias.” Reports began circulating on Sunday that a 19-year-old Jewish male had been assaulted by a group that became aware that he was Jewish. After asking him to confirm that he was Jewish, the group apparently beat the student. According to reports on social media, the student sustained minor injuries and did not require hospitalization.
