Adam Frisch may change direction after two failed bids at Congress, now seek DNC vice chair

By Ernest Luning | Colorado Politics After logging 77,000 miles on the odometer across two campaigns in one of the largest congressional districts in the country, Colorado Democrat Adam Frisch says he's learned a few things that can help his party return to what he calls a better version of itself — and in the process win back rural voters Democrats have been hemorrhaging for more than a generation. That's why Frisch has spent the last month or so running for one of three at-large vice chair positions on the Democratic National Committee, set to be decided at the party's winter meeting on Feb. 1 in National Harbor, Maryland, where the DNC will also elect a chair and other officers. Donald Trump anointed the Republican National Committee's leadership this week at an RNC meeting in ...

With win over Frisch, Jeff Hurd has held Colorado’s 3rd District for Republicans

By Lindy Browning | Contributor, Rocky Mountain Voice Jeff Hurd's telephone rang at about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, a little more than 24 hours after polls closed on Election Day. On the other end of the phone was his opponent, Democrat Adam Frisch. Hurd had pulled out a close race into a 12,413-vote lead with less than 12% of ballots remaining to be counted. “A few moments ago, I called to offer my congratulations to Jeff Hurd for being the next representative for Colorado’s 3rd [U.S. House] District," Frisch wrote in a statement. "Elections are about showing up, and I traveled more than 75,000 miles this campaign, authentically connecting with people from Dinosaur to Durango, Manzanola to Mancos and everywhere in between." The campaign was about them, he said, expressing apprec...

Final take in 3rd District: One candidate has misled with deception, half-truths and lies; we support vote for Hurd

By Editorial Board | Commentary, Rocky Mountain Voice Adam Frisch and the Democrats are at it again. In Colorado Congressional District 3, once again the Frisch campaign, in cahoots with the Colorado Democrats, is spending money and sending flyers to voters in support of a third-party candidate who can’t win. This time they are promoting Libertarian James Wiley, who is running in an attempt to suck votes away from Republican Jeff Hurd. The flyers promote Wiley as the only strong Trump supporter in the race, and mock Hurd’s long career as an attorney. They neglect to say that his work as an attorney was solely focused on fighting back against federal bureaucrats' overreaching regulations that were hurting local rural schools, farmers and ranchers,  and businesses in addi...

FEC filings contradict Democrat Frisch’s claims that he doesn’t take corporate PAC money

By Lindy Browning | Contributor, Rocky Mountain Voice Adam Frisch, the Democratic nominee for Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District, has told his supporters in person, in debates, on social media and on national television, that he does not take corporate or PAC money.  The claims just don’t track with his own campaign filings to the Federal Election Commission (FEC). Neither does the fact that he has more than $13 million dollars in his campaign account. According to FEC records, Frisch has received 528 corporate donations through political-action committees. [See file at bottom of story] Frisch’s PAC donors include ACTBLUE, BLUEHEN, Progressive Turnout Project, Democrats Reshaping America PAC, Progressive Choices PAC, Jeffries For Congress, and Beyond Thoughts And Prayer...

Adam Frisch, Jeff Hurd meet for likely their final 3rd District debate in Pueblo

By Lindy Browning | Contributor, Rocky Mountain Voice The last meeting between Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District candidates, Democrat Adam Frisch and Republican candidate Jeff Hurd, took place Monday, Sept. 30, at the Hoag Theater in Pueblo. From the beginning of the debate it was clear that moderator Earnest Luning was going to ask the candidates some difficult questions and he wanted specific answers. At some points during the debate, he asked follow up questions to get more specific answers for the public. Luning, representing Colorado Politics, set the tone of the debate by asking both candidates how they were going to work with U.S. Rep. Lauren Bobert, who has represented the 3rd District and is now running in the 4th District in Northern Colorado and on the Eastern Plain...

The GOP-leaning district spans Colorado’s Western Slope and stretches into Pueblo and southeastern Colorado. U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert, a Republican, currently represents the district, but moved to Windsor on the other side of the state and is running this year to represent the 4th Congressional District. In 3rd District, Club 20 debate unveiled sharp contrast between candidates Hurd, Frisch

By Lindy J. Browning | Contributor, Rocky Mountain Voice While both candidates have successfully identified issues that are top of mind for voters in the U.S. House District 3 race -- primarily the economy, border, health care, public lands, agriculture and water issues -- a Club 20 debate last week on the Western Slope showcased a sharp contrast in both candidates' specific policy solutions and demeanor. In his opening statements, Adam Frisch, the Democratic nominee, told the audience: “I’m here tonight because rural Colorado has been left behind and ignored. Everyone feels forgotten, misunderstood and taken advantage of by Denver and D.C.” “We are tired of the 'Angertainment' that seeps into our lives. It’s destructive to our families and communities. I just don’t have any room ...

Colorado’s 3rd District moved to ‘likely Republican’ by Cook Political

By BRIAN PORTER | Rocky Mountain Voice Colorado's 3rd District on the Western Slope is one of eight nationally to have received a ratings change from Cook Political. The seat is presently held by U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert, but is an open seat in the general election as Boebert vies for election in the 4th District. Democrat Adam Frisch and Republican Jeff Hurd are their parties' nominations for the 3rd District seat. Cook Political moved the seat from lean Republican to likely Republican, improving the chance Republicans will hold the seat in November. “Nothing is going right for Adam Frisch," said National Republican Congressional Committee spokeswoman Delanie Bomar. "While Frisch is floundering, momentum is on our side as Republicans are all hands on deck to send Jeff Hurd to ...

Why is Democrat Adam Frisch running TV ads in 3rd District primary? To boost his chances in November

By Jesse Paul | The Colorado Sun Democrat Adam Frisch is spending at least $100,000 to air a TV ad in the Republican primary in Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District in an apparent attempt to shape the race and give himself a better chance to win in November. The ad attacks Grand Junction attorney Jeff Hurd for “ducking Republican debates” and for refusing to say who he voted for in the 2016 and 2020 presidential elections, as well as for being the beneficiary of corporate super PAC money. It’s a clear call to GOP primary voters in the Republican-leaning 3rd District to back a different candidate in the six-way race — someone Frisch believes will be easier to beat in November. Someone like former state Rep. Ron Hanks, an election denier who attended Donald Trump’s rally on Jan. 6, 2021,...
