Barnhart: Abortion is Not Healthcare

By Faye Barnhart | Guest Columnist Abortion is not healthcare. Abortion intentionally tortures a child to death. Abortion violates a mother's body to rip away her child by unnaturally stretching her cervix or putting her into preterm labor and painfully dismembering her child or poisoning, starving, or scalding her child so that she delivers a dead baby. There is nothing healthy or caring about that. Abortion is the opposite of healthcare in that it intentionally causes death and unnecessary pain and suffering. There is no reason to intentionally take away the life of a child. Natural childbirth or Caesarean section intended to save the child’s life are safer for mother, too. It is more dangerous for a mother to deliver a dead baby than a living one, as the living child helps posi...

Trump’s abortion stance prompts pushback from Lindsey Graham, others rally behind former president

By Elizabeth Elkind , Julia Johnson  | FOX News A top Republican senator and Trump-endorser is among those criticizing the former president over his Monday announcement on abortion, in which he claimed restrictions on the procedure should be decided by individual states.  "I respectfully disagree with President Trump’s statement that abortion is a states’ rights issue," Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., said in a statement on Monday morning.  Trump made his much-anticipated announcement in a video the same day, stating his belief that the states should legislate their own limitations on abortion rather than the federal government.  READ THE FULL STORY AT FOX NEWS

Over a million dollars raised in push to add abortion guarantee to the Colorado Constitution

By Mike Krause | SOURCE: COMPLETE COLORADO PAGE TWO DENVER–Proponents of a citizen-initiated ballot measure to place a guarantee of abortion access in Colorado’s state Constitution have spent over $440,000 just on signature gathering towards the effort, with the campaign reporting there’s plenty more where that came from. According to the Jan. 16 contributions and expenditures filing with the Colorado Secretary of State, the issue committee pushing the measure–Coloradans for Protecting Reproductive Freedom–has raised $1,368,811 thus far, while spending just $578, 488, leaving over $790,000 in cash on hand, likely more than enough to ensure the question ends up in front of voters. Currently numbered as Initiative 89, the measure would add a new section to the Colorad...

During a House Oversight Committee hearing in May 2023, Boebert shared a personal story about the conception of her third son. She revealed that she couldn't afford her birth control prescription and decided to forgo it, leading to her unintended third pregnancy. https://www.youtube.com/embed/lvJGyRd0EJA?feature=oembed&enablejsapi=1 May 23, 2023 "My staff is probably going to talk to me about...

Colorado Democrats pass resolution declaring Jan. 22 Roe v. Wade Anniversary Day

By Marissa Ventrelli  | SOURCE: COLORADO POLITICS The legislature has passed a resolution designating Jan. 22 as "Roe v. Wade Anniversary Day" in Colorado. On Jan. 22, 1973, the U.S. Supreme Court recognized abortion as a legal right, a decision overturned in the 2022 case Dobbs vs. Jackson.  The Colorado resolution, sponsored by Democrats from both the House and the Senate, states that the Dobbs decision "resulted in significant physical and mental trauma as well as significant financial burden on people no longer able to access abortion care where they live and who must seek care elsewhere."  The resolution passed 21-13 in the Senate and 41-14 in the House.  READ FULL ARTICLE ON COLORADOPOLITICS.COM

Anti-abortion groups eye the long game to achieve political and cultural wins

By Breccan F. Thies and Gabrielle M. Etzel, Washington Examiner | SOURCE: THE GAZETTE As supporters from across the country gather in the nation’s capital for the 51st annual March for Life on Friday, abortion is becoming a more powerful force in politics than it has been in a generation. This year’s march, with the theme of "with every woman, for every child," will take place against the backdrop of a presidential election in which abortion will play a major role, several abortion initiatives on state ballots this year after recent losses for the anti-abortion side — and the question of how supporters of the movement can advance their goal of protecting the unborn. Several abortion-related cases are also set to be decided by the Supreme Court. Sin...

House Republicans pass two anti-abortion bills on eve of March for Life

By Gabrielle M. Etzel, Washington Examiner | SOURCE: THE GAZETTE House Republicans passed two anti-abortion measures on Thursday ahead of the 51st annual March for Life in Washington. The House also voted 212-207, with no Democrats voting in favor, for H.R. 6914, the Pregnant Students Rights Act, which requires colleges and universities to inform female students of their rights under Title IX if they become pregnant and choose to carry their child to term.
