Harris’s media blitz of border security lies and deceit

By Christopher Tremoglie, Commentary  | Washington Examiner Vice President Kamala Harris has kicked up her media appearances over the last few days, and it hasn’t gone well. From television interviews to radio programs to podcasts, the appointed Democratic nominee for president has decided to stop hiding from interviews after early voting has started in the country and with less than a month until Election Day. Yet one thing has remained consistent in her campaign: She continues to ignore, deceive, and lie about her horrific political record — especially on border security and immigration. By every available metric and analysis of Harris’s record on immigration since she has been vice president and border czar, it is abundantly clear she has a horrible record...

DHS confirms the Kamala Harris parole program is a national security risk

By The Washington Examiner The catch-and-release migrant programs created by President Joe Biden and endorsed by Vice President Kamala Harris have increased national security risks, according to the independent watchdog that oversees the Department of Homeland Security. The DHS Office of Inspector General released a report last week finding that Customs and Border Protection is releasing noncitizens without identification into the United States, contrary to federal law, in a manner that “inadvertently increases national security risks.” The same report also found that the Transportation Security Administration then lets these same unidentified noncitizens onto airplanes, where they are free to fly wherever they wish in the U.S. According to the report, CBP encountered 2.4 million ...

‘This thing is a long way from decided’: Carville predicts one candidate will carry swing states

By Zach LaChance | Washington Examiner Democratic strategist James Carville predicted that the swing states in the 2024 election will nearly all go to one candidate, rather than either former President Donald Trump or Vice President Kamala Harris narrowly winning the majority of them. Speaking on CNN, Carville was asked, “If it’s the economy, stupid,” why Harris isn’t ahead in the presidential race after recent positive economic news, including declining inflation and a stronger-than-expected jobs report. “You know, she’s slightly ahead. It’s not the election. These things tend to break one way or the other at the end. There’s seven swing states. The least likely result is they break 4-3. But I can’t stop the commentariat from saying it’s going to be ...

Supreme Court to decide if Mexico can sue firearms makers over cartel violence

By Kaelan Deese | Washington Examiner The U.S. Supreme Court has agreed to review a significant case that could determine whether Mexico can bring a $10 billion lawsuit against U.S. gun manufacturers for allegedly facilitating the flow of firearms to drug cartels. The case, revived by a federal appeals court, challenges the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA), a 2005 law that generally shields gun manufacturers from civil liability when their products are used in criminal activities. A lower court initially dismissed Mexico’s lawsuit based on this law, but the 1st Circuit Court ruled that Mexico’s claims fit an exemption in the PLCAA, allowing the suit to move forward. Mexico argues that U.S. gun manufacturers, such as Smith & Wesson, are culp...

Jack Smith lays out 2020 election case against Trump in newly unsealed filing

By Kaelan Deese | Washington Examiner Special counsel Jack Smith on Wednesday provided additional details on former President Donald Trump’s alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election, offering a plan to disprove what he called Trump’s “false claims” about election fraud and fight against the Supreme Court’s immunity decision. The 165-page motion, unsealed Wednesday by U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan, includes new revelations about plans by a Trump campaign employee and alleged co-conspirator to incite chaos at a ballot-processing center in Detroit. According to one section of the lengthy filing, a 2020 Trump campaign employee allegedly aimed to disrupt operations at Detroit’s TCF Center, a key site for vote counting in Michigan. Gen Z’ers are getting fired by businesses at shocking levels. Here’s why.

By Brad Polumbo | Washington Examiner It’s tough to keep a job these days. At least, it’s proving tough for many members of Generation Z, young adults born after 1997, because they’re getting fired at shocking levels, according to a new survey from Intelligent.com.  An astounding six in 10 employers surveyed have already fired college graduates they’d only brought on earlier this year, the Daily Mail reports of the survey. One in seven businesses added that they may not hire recent college graduates next year due to the problems they’ve encountered.  What’s wrong with these young employees? “Business leaders listed concerns in areas such as communications skills and professionalism that made them wary of hiring Gen Z,” the Daily Mail says. “They al...

Pompeo says Zelensky meetings with Harris and Trump were ‘very different’

By Zach LaChance  | Washington Examiner Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Friday addressed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky‘s separate meetings with Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump, saying they were “very different.” Speaking on Jesse Watters Primetime, Pompeo was asked how he saw the meetings between Zelensky and Harris and Zelensky and Trump. “Very different meetings. In one case, he was meeting with a vice president who was in charge when tens of thousands of people of his — Zelensky’s — people in Ukraine were killed. And the other president had deterred Vladimir Putin for four years,” he said. Pompeo then defended Trump’s record as president, saying the difference between Harris and Trump “couldn...

Walz could harm Harris, not help her, in debate against Vance

By Barnini Chakraborty | Washington Examiner When Vice President Kamala Harris picked Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her running mate in August, the choice was seen as a move to balance out her presidential ticket and help broaden her appeal to working-class voters. Democrats bet his bonafides as a former high school teacher, veteran, and gun owner with folksy charm would help Harris, who has been criticized for being inauthentic and a flip-flopper on policy. But for all of Walz’s midwestern “dad energy,” his record and penchant for tall tales will be in the spotlight on Oct. 1 when he faces Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) in a vice presidential debate. In what is undoubtedly the largest stage of his political career, Walz risks undermining Harris even furthe...

Commentary: Kamala Harris’s holistic failure is reason voters want a change in direction

By Washington Examiner | Commentary Vice President Kamala Harris got one thing right in her speech to the Economic Club of Pittsburgh on Wednesday. “The American economy is the most powerful force for innovation and wealth creation in the world,” Harris said. “We just need to move past the failed policies that we have proven don’t work.” True enough. We need to move past the proven failure of the past four years’ economic policies. Harris is the presidential candidate who has been in power during those years, and there is a reason voters want a change in direction. MSNBC anchor Stephanie Ruhle, who supports Harris for president, touched on this problem in a follow-up interview with Harris, asking the vice president what she would tell the majo...

RFK Jr. bashes Ozempic buzz and Novo Nordisk profits, says overeating, processed foods to blame for obesity

By Gabrielle M. Etzel | Washington Examiner Former independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. criticized what he characterized as “cheerleading for Ozempic” and other breakthrough weight loss and diabetes medication, arguing that the buzz masks the root causes of the obesity epidemic. Kennedy’s post on X Thursday is framed as a comment on an opinion piece about the difficulties of defining the disease of obesity published last week in the New York Times. His main critique of the piece, however, is that the author does not note the highly processed foundation of diets in the United States or the mental health conditions associated with overeating that lead to obesity.  “Instead of fixing our food system and addressing the obesity crisis at its...
