Illegal immigrants would be banned from boarding commercial flights under GOP bill

By Anna Giaritelli | Washington Examiner A senior House Republican is poised to introduce legislation that would ban illegal immigrants from flying into the United States from abroad or from the border without the same documents that the general traveling public must have, the Washington Examiner has learned. House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Mark Green (R-TN) will debut the Verifying that All Illegal Aliens Have Legitimate Documents, or VALID, Act on Thursday in an attempt to shut down lawful pathways for immigration that the Biden administration has rolled out and admitted hundreds of thousands of immigrants into the country through. “While Americans must show proper identification to board their flights, ...

Read the questions prospective Trump jurors have to answer before they’re selected in hush money trial

Annabella Rosciglione | Washington Examiner The jury selection process is tricky in high-profile cases, especially when involving former President Donald Trump.  The jury is being selected for Trump’s New York hush money case. Judge Juan Merchan indicated that the trial would move forth by outlining his jury selection process in a letter sent to the defense and prosecution. In a typical manner for a trial, possible jurors may excuse themselves before the trial for an “honest, legitimate and good faith reason” they may not be able to serve on the trial.  After that process, the remaining possible jurors will be asked various questions to determine if they can serve in People v. Donald Trump.  READ THE FULL STORY AT THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER

The Left’s latest scheme to permanently change elections in America

Paul Teller and Jason Snead | Washington Examiner Imagine a Super Bowl referee bending the rules to give his favorite team the win. Few would call that fair. Yet that is precisely what the Left wants to do to America’s elections. From noncitizen voting to lawsuits inviting activist judges to rewrite our election laws, left-wing activists are taking every opportunity to change elections permanently for partisan gain. Their latest tactic is to undermine the basic principle of “one person, one vote” with a new scheme called ranked choice voting. As we speak, liberal special interests are leading a sophisticated national campaign to push ranked choice voting in nearly every state. They have hired lobbyists, formed astroturf activist groups, and are financing state ballot measures acro...

Voters express concern over mail-in ballots after major postal office delays

By Misty Severi | Washington Examiner Voters have expressed concern over the speed of the United States Postal Service, which has seen significant delays in recent months, as the country prepares for the 2024 presidential election. The voters are largely concerned about the speed of mail-in ballots, and whether they would arrive at their destinations in time to be counted. However, the U.S. Postal Service said it would use “a robust and proven process to ensure proper handling and delivery of all Election Mail, including ballots,” for November. USPS also apologized for the service interruptions and delays seen in the past six months, which have been attributed to a roof collapse, the transition to new processing equipment, and “executional complications ar...

The remainder will be spent on expanding voter education programs. “Latinos are the biggest and fastest growing segment of the electorate with more than 4 million new voters since the last presidential election, so we want to make sure that we are reaching them in every way possible,” Somos Votantes President Melissa Morales told th...

Rep. Buddy Carter: Key bridge collapse ‘is why we should be fiscally responsible’

ByJenny Goldsberry | Washington Examiner Rep. Buddy Carter (R-GA) called for more fiscal responsibility amid the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, Maryland. Carter appeared on Sunday Morning Futures after crews removed the first piece of the collapsed bridge from the Patapsco River on Saturday in an effort to reopen Baltimore’s port. It remains to be seen how much it will cost to rebuild the bridge. “Yes, it needs to be fixed immediately. There’s no question about that. It’s going to be a big impact on our economy,” Carter said. “However, when we get into this, we need to look at a number of different things. First of all, what’s the responsibility of the shipping company? What’s the responsibility of the insurance company? And what about funds ...

Republicans decry arrest of Gold Star father for heckling Biden at State of the Union

By Emily Jacobs | Washington Examiner GOP lawmakers are defending the Gold Star father arrested by U.S. Capitol Police on Thursday for heckling President Joe Biden during his State of the Union address.  Police say that Steve Nikoui, 51, was arrested for violating the D.C. Code after continuing to yell at the president despite officers warning him to stop. His son, Lance Cpl. Kareem Nikoui, was one of the 13 U.S. service members killed in an ISIS-K bombing during the American withdrawal from Kabul, Afghanistan, on Aug. 26, 2021. “This is a routine charge on Capitol Hill. People who illegally demonstrate/disrupt Congress typically are released after they pay a $50 fine, so the misdemeanor charge is resolved without going to court,” a Cap...
