Lobue: Since Biden inherited the Trump boom, the whole economy’s gone bust

By JOSEPH LOBUE | The Federalist For years, President Joe Biden was flying west to east with the prevailing winds, economically speaking. During Covid, politicians (primarily Democrats) closed down large portions of the economy. When Covid ended, the economy “grew” because that’s what happens when you go from a partially closed economy to an entirely open one. Why economists fail to recognize this easy-growth environment is befuddling. Now, in rapid succession, we have a weak GDP report, poor jobs and unemployment reports, another terrible fiscal report, and more awful inflation reports. Horrible data that even the pro-Biden media can’t cover up. The truth is that Biden’s economic numbers were never any good. And now that the easy-growth environment of the post-Covid era is well b...

Every state facing deceptive, unlimited abortion ballot measures this November

By JORDAN BOYD | The Federalist Democrats and their abortion giant allies want to legalize killing unborn babies throughout all nine months of gestation in every state. A majority of U.S. adults reject that position, but that fact hasn’t stopped the ballot measure battle that plagued Ohio last year from infiltrating several other states, including those controlled by Republicans, during the 2024 election cycle. Read about the iniotiatives on the ballot and which could be on the ballot, including in Colorado, here. READ THE FULL STORY AT THE FEDERALIST

In AP/API poll, more than 8 in 10 Americans don’t trust corporate media to fairly report 2024 election

By TRISTAN JUSTICE | The Federalist Overwhelming majorities of Americans have lost their trust in the media to accurately report the news, according to a new poll out Wednesday. In a survey from the American Press Institute and The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, a whopping 83 percent of respondents said they were concerned the media would “report inaccurate information or disinformation” in their 2024 election coverage. Eighty-one percent said they are worried the media will report unverified information, and 77 percent said they feared the media would stick to the facts — but be dishonest in their framing, only covering things favorable to their preferred candidates or detrimental to their opponents. Pollsters found that 72 percent are worr...

Davis: Strong voter ID laws confirm not just who you are but where you live

By Mark Davis | The Federalist The debate over voter ID typically centers on the need to prove we are who we say we are when we vote, which is obviously very important. But voter ID can and should also be used to prove we live where we say we live. This is critical because the ballots we receive when we vote are based on where we actually live — where our “habitation is fixed” as is the case in my home state of Georgia. That location determines our “jurisdiction,” which is our county and/or municipality. It also determines our voting precinct, our city and county election contests, and the school board, judicial, county commission, state House, state Senate, and congressional district races that appear on our ballots. Lyman: Prosecutors accuse Trump of ‘criminal scheme’ to ‘corrupt’ 2016 election; Russia hoaxers walk free

By BRIANNA LYMAN | The Federalist In opening statements on Monday, Manhattan prosecutors sought to convince a jury that former President Donald Trump “orchestrated a criminal scheme to corrupt the 2016 presidential election.” Meanwhile, the perpetrators of the Russia-collusion hoax — the real criminal scheme that was orchestrated to meddle in that election — walk free. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg claims Trump broke the law after he classified payments made by his then-lawyer, Michael Cohen, to pornographer Stormy Daniels, as “legal fees” rather than campaign expenditures. (It is not illegal to purchase negative press about oneself, and Trump likely would have run afoul of campaign finance laws if he had classified such an expense, which benefitted him personally rather...

Markos: Opposition to Trump is rooted in contempt for ordinary voters

By LOUIS MARKOS | The Federalist A complaint I hear increasingly leveled at contemporary American politicians is that they are out of touch with voters, if not downright contemptuous of them. On a number of core issues, politicians seem less concerned with pursuing policies that are deeply unpopular with ordinary Americans than with upholding the ideologies and self-interests of the ruling elite. Two dramatic examples of this political disconnect with average citizens are the refusal of urban governments to prosecute violent criminals, which has caused a surge in crime, and the White House’s tolerance of mass immigration, which threatens jobs, security, and the rule of law. As I survey the current political and intellectual landscape, I cannot help but see a resurgence of the arro...

Kittle: All things considered, lawmakers say it’s time to defund NPR

By M.D. KITTLE | The Federalist All things considered, National Public Radio represents the left wing of American journalism. Conservatives, of course, have known that for years. It took a veteran NPR editor with an ax to grind and some resurfaced tweets to drive home the point that the “Fresh Air” of public radio stinks with leftist bias.  So the question is: Why is the American taxpayer paying for this Pravda?   Some lawmakers are saying enough is enough.  U.S. Rep. Bob Good, R-Va., is introducing a bill to defund NPR. The bill’s draft, exclusively provided to The Federalist, prohibits federal funds in general from going to the radio network.  READ THE FULL STORY AT THE FEDERALIST

Raleigh: Democrats’ systemic normalization of property theft birthed America’s squatter crisis

By HELEN RALEIGH | The Federalist Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., said last week that squatters have “no rights.” He should try to convince his Democrat colleagues and their far-left allies because their systemic effort to normalize property theft has led to the unprecedented squatter crisis in America. Their ultimate goal is to destroy property rights and replace capitalism with socialism. Squatting is a form of trespassing as squatters use properties without the owners’ permission or any legal documentation. Nor do squatters offer property owners financial compensation. Atlanta, Georgia, is the epicenter of the squatter crisis. Squatters have overtaken about 1,200 homes. One of the victimized homeowners, Lt. Col. Dahlia Daure, said she felt “violated” after ...

Raleigh: Joe Biden’s signature achievement is his list of broken promises

By HELEN RALEIGH | The Federalist President Joe Biden’s Energy Department canceled its plan to purchase millions of barrels of oil to refill the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR). The cancellation means the Biden administration is unlikely to fulfill its promise of fully replenishing the SPR by the end of the year, and the SPR will remain at a historically low level after the administration depleted it in 2022.  The depletion of the SPR was caused by the Biden administration’s own failed energy policy. Shortly after he came into office, President Biden issued a series of anti-fossil fuel energy policies, including canceling the Keystone XL Pipeline project and halting leasing on federal lands for oil and gas production. Biden’s energy policies stran...

Fleetwood: Media tacitly admit mail-in balloting is not as secure and reliable as they claim

BY: SHAWN FLEETWOOD | The Federalist Since the chaotic 2020 election and coincident expansion of mail-in balloting, America’s corrupt media have gone full throttle to convince the country that this unsupervised system is 1,000 percent safe and never produces fraud. The same consensus also accuses Americans concerned about the risks associated with mass mail-in voting of being conspiracy theorists and so-called “election deniers.” Within the past week, however, several legacy publications have released stories tacitly admitting that the process is not as secure or reliable as they regularly claim.
