Authorities remove retired General Mark Milley’s portrait from Pentagon 10 days after its unveiling

By Frances Floresca | Daily Caller The Pentagon has removed a portrait of Mark Milley, a retired Army general and former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, only 10 days after it was unveiled. This move was made just after President Donald Trump’s inauguration. A Pentagon spokesperson confirmed to the Daily Caller that the portrait had been removed but deferred comment to the White House. Anti-Trump Inauguration Day protests in Washington, D.C., fail to deliver

By Hudson Crozier | Daily Caller Left-wing groups opposing Donald Trump’s second presidency had plans to “fight back” with thousands of protesters in Washington, D.C. on Monday — but that’s not what happened. The Act Now to Stop War and End Racism (ANSWER) Coalition and the People’s Forum, who were behind anti-Israel riots last summer in the nation’s capital, organized Inauguration Day rallies that led local law enforcement to expect around 10,000 people across the town, starting at Malcolm X Park. The Daily Caller News Foundation, however, observed a different scene: a crowd of dozens standing in the snow, a pile of unused megaphones, and complaints about the icy weather. “We are here on a day that is so cold that they decided to put the inauguration indoors,” one speaker said at...

Senate passes Laken Riley act after Trump’s inauguration

By Henry Rodgers | Daily Caller The U.S. Senate voted Monday to pass the Laken Riley Act, just hours after President Donald Trump was sworn in. The bill would require federal immigration authorities to detain illegal migrants who commit theft-related crimes in the U.S. The legislation would also allow states to sue the Department of Homeland Security for harm caused to their residents because of illegal immigration. The bill passed in a 64-35 vote. Only 12 Democrats voted in favor of the bill. READ THE FULL STORY AT THE DAILY CALLER

White: Here are Trump’s options for dealing with an imminent nuclear threat that’s festered under Biden

By Wallace White | Commentary, Daily Caller Iran has largely been left unchecked by the Biden administration in its goal to become a nuclear power, presenting President-elect Donald Trump with a significant foreign policy challenge that has few easy solutions. Iran, with its current stockpiles, can make a nuclear weapon with 60% enriched uranium in just one week, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said in a November bulletin. The president-elect will have to choose a path quickly upon assuming office, such as renegotiating a deal to halt or slow Iran’s progress, military intervention or re-tooling sanctions that have so far been ineffective. “The United States needs another Middle East war like it needs a hole in the head,” Justin Logan, director of defense and foreign ...

Powell: In Meta culture shift, Zuckerberg brings UFC president Dana White onto board

By Andrew Powell | Commentary, The Daily Caller It’s way too early to tell if we can ever trust the Zuck, but this is a good start. We’re all aware of who Mark Zuckerberg is, we’re all aware of what Facebook is, two names that we’ve all been screwed over by at least once ever since Donald Trump won the 2016 presidential election. It didn’t matter if you were far to the right or just a little bit to the right, you’d get knocked for anything that went against the left-wing agenda. Facebook turned into a blatant echo chamber! But ever since Trump won the 2024 election — and honestly, you could say it’s been happening well before that — the culture has been shifting. And Monday brought us another example of that, as Zuckerberg has added three new members to the board of dire...

Biden confirms he is considering preemptively pardoning Anthony Fauci

By Reagan Reese | Daily Caller President Joe Biden confirmed in an interview with USA Today that he is considering preemptive pardons for Dr. Anthony Fauci and former Republican Rep. Liz Cheney. Following Biden’s decision to pardon his son Hunter (after months of insisting he would not do so), Politico reported that the president was considering pardoning those he thinks President-elect Donald Trump may target, including Fauci, Cheney and Democratic California Sen. Adam Schiff. Biden told USA Today that he has not made a decision on whether or not he will pardon them in his last 12 days in office and that it depends on who Trump appoints to his cabinet. “Well, a little bit of it depends on who he puts in what positions. If in fact, he … here’s how … I was very straightforward with...

Liz Warren’s favorite agency just granted itself new powers to regulate checking accounts

By Owen Klinsky | Daily Caller The lame duck Biden administration’s Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) issued a rule in December to curb overdraft penalties in what experts told the Daily Caller News Foundation is an example of government overreach that will ravage low-income Americans. The CFPB — an agency that is considered the brainchild of Democratic Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren — finalized the rule just weeks before President-elect Donald Trump takes office, with the aim of forcing banks to either cap overdraft fees at $5, far less than the $35 average, or to provide the overdraft as a form of credit rather than a penalty. While the policy’s stated aim is to increase transparency and protect American depositors, experts told the DCNF it will force banks to implem...

Massive dockworker strike could land in Trump Admin’s lap on day one

By Wallace White | Daily Caller A costly dockworkers’ strike could ignite just days before President-elect Donald Trump takes office, presenting the Republican’s administration with a major domestic challenge on day one. The International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA), which represents 47,000 workers, is planning to strike on Jan. 15 after a short three-day strike in October, where the union secured a 62% pay raise over six years from United States Maritime Alliance (USMX). However, negotiations concerning port automation with shipping companies continue to stall, and industry giant Maersk said there have been no new developments, according to Bloomberg Tuesday. “The conditional agreement on wages is set to expire on January 15. If no agreement is reached by that date, a coast-...

McGreevy: Media experts predict where professional liar KJP will end up next

By Robert McGreevy | Commentary, Daily Caller With the Biden presidency weeks away from its conclusion, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre will be out of a job soon, and a panel of media luminaries gave the Daily Caller their idea of what she might do next. The consensus seemed to be that KJP, despite being considered by many to have performed poorly at her White House gig, will likely find safe harbor as a contributor on a cable news program, just like her predecessor Jen Psaki.  “She’ll go where all the other failed Hollywood actors go when they’re useless to the deep state: a cable chat show that exclusively exists to sell weird books and products to lonely women,” Daily Caller alum and media veteran Kay Hill said. Biden spent one-quarter of his final year on Easy Street as he vacationed or worked remote

By Reagan Reese | Daily Caller President Joe Biden spent nearly a quarter of his final year in office, 24%, in Delaware, at Camp David or in vacation spots, a Daily Caller review of White House pool reports showed. Biden spent 89 full and partial days out of the White House in 2024, not counting days he was taking foreign trips for official business. The president’s time out of the office increased after he dropped out of the presidential race, spending a total of 46 full or partial days in Delaware, Camp David, St. Croix, Nantucket and California from August to the end of the year. The Caller’s count includes the president’s current trip to St. Croix, which the White House has not released the end date of. In 2023, the president stayed until the second of the next year.
