Colorado lawmakers reject proposed ban on new oil and gas drilling after 2030

By Mark Jaffe | Colorado Sun A bill to ban new oil and gas drilling in Colorado after 2030 — which sparked a spate of industry TV ads with dire warnings — was rejected Thursday by a bipartisan majority of the Senate Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee after a marathon hearing. The legislation, Senate Bill 159 — sponsored by two Democratic senators, Kevin Priola, of Henderson, and Sonya Jaquez Lewis, of Boulder County —  would have required state oil and gas regulators to stop issuing new drilling permits starting in 2030, with those permits to be used by 2032. By BRIAN PORTER | The Rocky Mountain Voice HUGO -- The Republican Congressional Vacancy Committee convened here Thursday evening with nine candidates vying to be nominated to a place on the 4th District Congressional special election ballot. But, there should have been 10 candidates. John Fabbricatore was unable to participate when he was involved in an auto accident on the way to Hugo, reads a social media post he wrote. "I was involved in a vehicle accident that disabled my vehicle and kept me from making it to the event in Hugo, before the first round of votes were cast," he wrote. The Arizona Diamondbacks scored 14 runs in a third-inning offensive onslaught Thursday night and by then the Rockies trailed 16-1. It marks the worst single inning in franchise history in terms of most hits, runs and batters allowed, the Associated Press reported. The 14 runs are the most in an inning on Opening Day for any team since 1900, more than a century, according to Elias Sports. The D-backs sent 18 batters to the plate and had 13 hits, two walks and one sacrifice fly, the Associated Press reports.
