‘Small’ high-altitude balloon of unknown origin flying over Colorado, Western U.S., poses ‘no threat’

By Victor Nava / New York Post The US government is tracking a high-altitude balloon of unknown origin — and officials insist that it is not a security threat. The balloon, flying at an altitude between 43,000 and 45,000 feet, was determined to be “not maneuverable” and poses no threat to national security, the North American Aerospace Defense Command told The Post on Friday.  The nation’s airspace watchdog described it as “small” and said its fighter jets intercepted the balloon over Utah.  “NORAD will continue to track and monitor the balloon,” the military agency said in a statement. “The FAA also determined the balloon posed no hazard to flight safety.”  READ THE FULL STORY AT THE NEW YORK POST

Lara Trump promises no more flowers, focus on electing GOP nominee as top priorities for RNC she’s rumored to be preparing to run

By Timothy H.J. Nerozzi  | Fox News Former President Donald Trump's daughter-in-law is promising that all the Republican National Committee's (RNC) finances will be poured into getting him re-elected if she is made co-chair of the committee. Lara Trump, who the former president has pushed as a potential co-chair of the RNC, told reporters on Tuesday that "every single penny" would go to the campaign effort if she were appointed.  "The RNC needs to be the leanest, most lethal political fighting machine we’ve ever seen in American history," Lara Trump told Newsmax. "That is the goal over the next nine-and-a-half months. If I am elected to this position, I can assure you, there will not be any more $70,000 – or whatever exorbitant amount of money it was – spent on flowers."...

‘American elections should be decided by American citizens – full stop’: RNC wins suit to prevent non-citizens from voting in NY

By Spencer Brown | Townhall.com A lawsuit in New York led by the Republican National Committee saw sanity prevail when an appellate court ruled that no, non-U.S. citizens cannot vote in our elections. If the absurd policy had been allowed to stand, some 900,000 non-citizens to cast votes in municipal elections in the Big Apple.  In a 43-page order in Fossella v Adams, Associate Justice Paul Wooten of the Appellate Division for the Second Judicial Department in New York announced the decision that "the Local Law is null and void on the grounds that it violates the New York State Constitution and the Municipal Home Rule Law." RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel emphasized that "American elections should be decided by American citizens – full stop," in a statement provided to Townhall. ...

Colorado National Guard training with Jordanians as conflict persists in the Middle East

By Mary Shinn | Colorado Springs Gazette As conflict persists in the Middle East, the Colorado National Guard is playing a key role in maintaining America's partnership with Jordan, a U.S. ally in the region.  Colorado National Guard members were in Jordan last week training with Jordanian units, during one of the 35 annual training events organized between the local guard and Jordan, said Brig. Gen. Michael Bruno, who oversees the partnership. About half of the weeklong training events take place in Colorado and half in Jordan.  The partnership, now in its 20th year, has helped lay the groundwork for the U.S. to more easily work with Jordan if needed and trained Jordanians to be more capable, he said.  READ THE FULL STORY AT THE COLORADO SPRINGS GAZETTE

Lincoln pardoned Joe Biden’s great-great-grandfather, newly uncovered document reveals

By David J. Gerleman | The Washington Post Every new president selects personalized Oval Office decor to suit his tastes and pay homage to admired predecessors. President Biden’s Oval Office boasts both a portrait and a bust of Abraham Lincoln. But his family’s connection to the 16th president extends far beyond workplace ornamentation. It dates to a late-night brawl during the Civil War. On the evening of March 21, 1864, the quiet of a small corner of the Army of the Potomac’s sprawling winter camp along the Rappahannock River near Beverly Ford, Va., was disturbed when a fight broke out in one of the mess tents between Union Army civilian employees Moses J. Robinette and John J. Alexander. READ THE FUL STORY AT THE WASHINGTON POST

Trump campaign says South Carolina is ‘the end’ of Nikki Haley

By Julia Johnson | Colorado Springs Gazette Former President Donald Trump's campaign released a memo Tuesday declaring Saturday's Republican primary in South Carolina as "the end" of former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley's presidential campaign. Trump senior advisers Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles authored the new memo, titled "The End Is Near For Nikki Haley," in which they state that South Carolina's nominating contest will mark the close of Haley's 2024 bid, whether she agrees or not. "Of course, like any wailing loser hell-bent on an alternative reality and refusing to come to grips with her imminent political mortality, we should expect more references to Kings and Coronations," they said, referencing Haley's recent justification for continuing her ...

Boebert in 4th District, Evans in 8th win President’s Day Celebration straw poll in Windsor

By BRIAN PORTER | Rocky Mountain Voice WINDSOR – The winding path of the campaign trail in Colorado’s 4th and 8th Congressional District races turned Sunday evening to the President’s Day Celebration hosted by the Conservative Patriot Alliance here at American Legion Post No. 109. “There have been a series of debates and forums,” said David Huntwork, chairman of the Conservative Patriot Alliance and emcee of Sunday’s event. “Rarely are candidates allowed a significant amount of time to share about themselves. We wanted to provide that.” Republicans vying for the Republican Party’s nomination in both districts participated in a meet and greet and a successive five-minute speech to the audience before a straw poll was conducted. “This is a very non-scientific poll,” Huntwork ...
