Pueblo police recovered stolen cars, arrested four on Christmas Eve

By Ashleigh Quintana | KOAA-TV NBC 5 The Pueblo Police Department, with help from the Colorado State Patrol, Fountain Police Department, Local Parole, and the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office, was able to recover six stolen cars on Christmas Eve. The department also made four arrests in connection to the stolen cars; two people who were arrested had outstanding warrants, and the others are facing charges related to motor vehicle theft. By Ashleigh Quintana | KOAA-TV NBC 5 The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) responded to a shooting in the 1600 block of Rushmore Dr., in southeast Colorado Springs on Wednesday morning. The call for service came in at 4:08 a.m. When officers arrived at the residence, they found that the incident involved the alleged shooter and their father. With this incoming winter storm, flights will likely be impacted. Flights are usually delayed due to snow, strong winds, fog, and thunderstorms. According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, 26% of delayed flights from September of 2023 to August of 2024 were due to weather. A look at Colorado’s Red Flag law and how often it’s used

It allows family members and household members as well as law enforcement agencies to petition a judge to have someone's guns removed from them if they are deemed a risk to themselves or others. The bill was first introduced in 2018, but it failed in a divided legislature where Democrats controlled the House and Republicans controlled the Senate. In 2019, numerous counties, including El Paso County, declared the counties to be "2nd Amendment Sanctuary Counties" or in El Paso County's case a "2nd Amendment Preservation County" meaning it would not enforce the Red Flag law. Improving transportation infrastructure is one of the city's top four priorities in the plan, along with boosting communication with the public, supporting local businesses, and enhancing water and electric security. Loren Furman, the president and CEO of the Colorado Chamber, said they hired a group of economists from outside the state to examine the data. “The data that they came back with was pretty shocking. What they found is that Colorado is the sixth most regulated state in the nation,” said Furman. “We have over 165,000 regulations implemented through law. By James Gavato | KOAA-TV NBC-5 Colorado Springs An exchange between the Adams County Clerk Josh Zygielbaum and Christopher Beall, the Colorado Deputy Secretary of State took place on November 1 after a civil servant from the Secretary of State's office posted partial passwords to voting systems online. It happened during a phone between the Secretary of State's Office and several county clerks. During the call, Beall admits the secretary of state's office did not want to disclose that passwords to Colorado voting systems were mistakenly posted online to avoid a 'media storm.' Colorado ranching groups file petition to pause more wolf reintroductions until depredations are addressed

By Stephanie Butzer | NBC 5 News More than two dozen organizations that represent agriculture and livestock producers in Colorado have filed a petition to delay future gray wolf reintroductions until depredations are addressed and mitigation tactics are fully implemented. The Colorado Cattlemen's Association, based in Lakewood, announced the petition, which is addressed to the CPW (Colorado Parks and Wildlife) Commission, on Monday. In addition to that association, the other petitioners include Middle Park Stockgrowers Association, Colorado Farm Bureau, Club 20, and Colorado Wool Growers Association. Aftermath of Pueblo’s homeless encampment and trash clear out, a week later

By Eleanor Sheahan | KOAA News The City of Pueblo and the mayor have received both support and pushback about the way they are trying to clean up the steel city. Last week, the city cleared out trash and homeless camps along Fountain Creek. This clean up has brought forward many concerns over how the city is dealing with homelessness and whether or not the city is providing enough resources. Last week the area from the 8th Street to the 4th Street bridge was cleared out by the city. But people in Pueblo are at odds, some voicing support of this while others say there needs to be more resources for unhoused individuals. It began on Tuesday, September 3rd.
