By Heather Willard | Fox 31 News Law enforcement reported this week that a 32-year-old man arrested at the Port of Buffalo, Peace Bridge border crossing on Tuesday was wanted for felony warrants out of Arapahoe County. U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers first met the man after he made a wrong turn in a 2016 Nissan Altima onto the Peace Bridge. By Spencer Kristensen | Fox 31 News Friday marks 160 years since Colorado’s Sand Creek Massacre, where U.S. soldiers attacked a camp of indigenous people, mostly women and children, killing hundreds. On Nov. 19, 1864, what has become known as the “deadliest day in Colorado history,” more than 200 innocent people were killed by U.S. Army soldiers in an attack on the Cheyenne and Arapaho people. The lawsuit is in response to certain unlawful “no-poach agreements” the grocery stores allegedly entered into during a 2022 strike against King Soopers and City Market by the union United Food and Commercial Workers Local 7 in Denver. For the 70th year, teenagers from across Colorado are gathering to work through the mock legislation that they drafted themselves via the YMCA of Metro Denver’s Youth in Government program. Casa Bonita’s employees are unionizing. What are they hoping to gain?

By Heather Willard | Fox 31 News Onstage and backstage workers of the oft-noted Denver restaurant Casa Bonita have voted unanimously to unionize with two unions: The Actors’ Equity Association and IATSE Local 7. The vote was publicized Friday, in an announcement that said about 80 restaurant workers had filed for an election in October to address issues that have been noticed as the iconic eatery grows. Workers specifically want improvements to safety, fair pay and clear communication with management. Anecdotally, for a lot of new parents of kids younger than six, before they go to school, paying for childcare is like taking out a second mortgage. Many believe it’s the cost of childcare that causes the biggest problems, but the Common Sense Institute ran the numbers and found many counties in Colorado are in a childcare desert. CPW unanimously adopts new Eastern Colorado mountain lion management plan

By Heather Willard | Fox 31 News The 10-year plan to manage mountain lions east of the Continental Divide was adopted unanimously by the 10 Colorado Parks and Wildlife Commission members last week. The plan used months of research and public hearings to inform its measures and echoes the similar successful development of the West Slope mountain lion management plan, which was approved in 2020. CPW recently published results from a study of West Slope mountain lions and found that the big cats’ population density is equal to or greater than the density projections used for making harvest decisions. “Mountain lions in Colorado have historically been managed on smaller, localized scales – similar to the management of Colorado’s deer and elk,” CPW explained in a re...
