Congress targets Chinese influence in health tech

By DIDI TANG and HAVEN DALEY | KDVR, via AP A California biotechnology company that helps doctors detect genetic causes for cancer is among those that could be cut out of the U.S. market over ties to China, underscoring the possible tradeoffs between health innovation and a largely bipartisan push in Congress to counter Beijing’s global influence. The competition between the world’s superpowers is hitting Complete Genomics, whose employees, some in white lab coats stitched with U.S. flag arm patches, spin samples in test tubes and huddle around computers in San Jose. Its founder and chief scientific officer said he’s frustrated that geopolitics is interfering with science. “It’s just a loss for the research and for the industry,” Radoje Drmanac said. Aurora mayor responds to Trump’s debate reference: “TdA has not ‘taken over’ the city”

By Lanie Lee Cook | Fox 31 News The candidates had not finished responding to the first question of Tuesday night’s debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump before Colorado was brought into the fold. Harris and Trump were asked whether they thought the economy was in a better position than four years ago. Man cited by Denver police for posting illegal signs in March near Colorado Capitol

By Heather Willard | Fox 31 News The Denver Police Department has cited a 56-year-old man for posting anti-migrant signs near the Colorado Capitol in late March. The agency said Monday that Christopher Balli was cited on a municipal code violation on Thursday for illegally posting on public or private property, as the signs were attached to city street sign poles on March 22. However, Balli is not facing hate crime charges at this time. The signs were bolted to the same posts as the city’s metal street signs and made to look like a normal street sign. However, the signs featured the words hookers, migrants and undocumented.
