By Morgan Whitley | Fox 31 News On Monday, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office shared the body worn camera footage and surveillance footage from the parking lot of Main Event Highlands Ranch, where a deputy shot and killed an armed 23-year-old. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office released a five-minute video on X that included an introduction from Douglas County Sheriff Darren Weekly and a narrated version of the body camera footage and surveillance footage. There’s an ‘outbreak’ of sick racoons in Arapahoe County, officials say

By Maddie Rhodes | Fox 31 News Arapahoe County Animal Services is warning locals to take precautions after seeing an increased number of sick raccoons in the area. The Arapahoe County Government posted that animal services has seen an “outbreak” of sick raccoons suffering from canine distemper, a viral disease infecting raccoons, foxes, coyotes, skunks and unvaccinated dogs. It is spread when animals have direct contact with body fluids or droppings from an infected animal. The county said symptoms of the usually deadly disease can include discharge from the nose and eyes, a rough coat of hair, emaciated appearance and unusual behavior like disorientation or wandering aimlessly. On a federal level, the IRS began accepting individual tax returns on Jan. 27, but the Colorado Department of Revenue website for e-filing taxes is not up and running yet. The website said 2024 return links are coming soon and to check back in early February, but the month is more than halfway over and residents are wondering when they could receive their state refund if they are getting one. Aurora police see 80% increase in ‘puffing’ car thefts, an illegal activity in state law

By Rachel Saurer | KDVR-TV Fox 31 News While Colorado continues to see frigid temperatures across the state, police are warning drivers about the dangers of “puffing.” The Aurora Police Department has reported an 80% increase in thefts from puffing compared to the same time in 2024. From January to February 2025, the department has seen 30 cases. The month before that, they saw 15. “That number is probably going to go up in our next reporting period just because of the very cold days that we are experiencing right now,” said Agent Matthew Longshore, a spokesperson for Aurora police.
