Crank joined EPSO deputies on Saturday, Feb. 8 for a ride-along to learn about the challenges members of law enforcement face as they work to serve their communities. EPSO shared that during the ride along, Crank was able to visit and observe partners from the Cimarron Hills Fire Department as they treated an individual experiencing a medical emergency. United’s filing with Denver could signal possible HQ move out of Chicago

By Ben Bradley | Fox 21 News United Airlines has sent another signal about a potential move of its corporate headquarters from Chicago to Denver.  In a new filing with the City of Denver, United said it may eventually build more than 1 million square feet of office space to accommodate more than 6,000 employees on land it purchased in 2023 near the Denver airport. United employs nearly 5,000 corporate employees in Chicago.  The first priority for development of the Denver land is for a new flight simulator training center.  The airline says future growth and pilot training will create demand for 60 additional flight simulator bays than United currently operates closer to the downtown Denver. Senate confirms Coloradan Chris Wright to lead Energy Department

By Rachel Frazin | KXRM-TV Fox 21 News, via The Hill The Senate on Monday confirmed Chris Wright, the CEO of fracking company Liberty Energy, to lead the Energy Department.  The vote was 59-38. Democrat Sens. Michael Bennet (Colo.), Ruben Gallego (Ariz.), Maggie Hassan (N.H.), Martin Heinrich (N.M.), John Hickenlooper (Colo.), Ben Ray Luján (N.M.) and Jeanne Shaheen (N.H.) as well as independent Sen. Angus King (Maine) voted with Republicans to confirm him. CSU-Pueblo president resigns position amid board investigation that found he violated policy

By Norishka Pachot | KXRM-TV Fox 21 News The Colorado State University (CSU) System announced on Friday, Jan. 31 that it accepted CSU Pueblo President Armando Valdez’s resignation effective immediately after he was found to have violated policy. According to a statement, CSU performed an independent investigation and was found to have violated a university policy. “While Mr. Valdez disagrees with the conclusions of that investigation, he recognizes that it has caused him to lose the confidence of the Board of Governors and CSU System leadership,” CSU wrote. “As a result, to allow the university to move forward, he resigned his role.” READ THE FULL STORY AT KXRM-TV FOX 21 NEWS

By Ashley Eberhardt | KXRM-TV Fox 21 News For the second time in three days, volunteers and employees with the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) were called to rescue cows that had fallen through a frozen pond in eastern Pueblo County. According to PCSO, deputies responded on Monday, Jan. 27 along with Emergency Management and volunteers with the sheriff’s office dive and fire teams for a rescue of cows that had fallen through a frozen pond. CPW terrestrial biologist Tyrel Woodward will be leading a team throughout the month of January to trap 20 bighorn sheep at an old quarry above Colorado Springs. On Tuesday, Jan. 14, CPW staffers John Barkowski and Joey Livingston helped distribute bales of hay and apple pulp to lure 150-member Rampart herd to a site where a net would be set up to catch 20 sheep. By Ashley Eberhardt | Fox 21 News An initial report from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) states that a Piper single-engine airplane that landed in a field near Monument on Jan. 6 experienced engine trouble. The Piper PA-12 landed in a field near Highway 105 between Monument and Palmer Lake around 5 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 6. According to FAA records, the plane took off from Kelly Air Park in Elbert, Colorado, about 25 miles northeast of Monument. Can’t they use ocean water to put out the fires?” one X user from Canada asked Thursday. “How is the ground so dry with that much water[?]” As demonstrated in the aforementioned footage — which has been published by Nexstar’s KTLA, among other outlets — yes, firefighters can use seawater to put out fires.
