Inflation eased again in July, even as an uptick in the cost of rent, groceries and auto insurance kept prices uncomfortably high for millions of Americans. The Labor Department on Wednesday said that the consumer price index (CPI), a broad measure of how much everyday goods like gasoline, groceries and rent cost, rose 0.2% in July from the previous month, in line with expectations. Prices climbed 2.9% from the same time last year. It marked the lowest level of inflation since March 2021. READ THE FULL STORY AT FOX BUSINESS

Marcus: Donald Trump was almost assassinated one month ago. Our media has moved on. Voters have not.

By David Marcus  | Commentary, Fox News It was one month ago, in the tiny town of Butler, Pa., that a would-be assassin's bullet came less than an inch away from changing not just the 2024 presidential election, but the course of American history. The shocking shooting that left husband and father Corey Comperatore dead, and two more wounded remains a sharp and piercing image in the minds of many voters. It feels as though decades of politics have taken place in these past 30 days, we have emerged in a very different situation, and if prelude is precursor the next 84 days shall not want for more surprises. ‘Putting down a rabid dog’: Stefanik demands N.Y. official resign over Trump shooting remark

By Elizabeth Elkind  | Fox News House GOP Conference Chair Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., is demanding that a local elected official in her district resign after reportedly comparing former President Trump to a "rabid dog" after he was shot. Christine Paige, a member of the Potsdam Town Council, has faced bipartisan backlash over her comments, which were first reported last month by local media. "Far Left Democrats supporting political violence and the assassination of President Trump are shameful and do not deserve to represent the great people of the North Country," Stefanik told Fox News Digital. Harvard economist says food prices are leaving him in ‘state of shock’

By Alicia Warren  | Fox Business One economist says the state of grocery prices is leaving him in "shock" despite knowing a thing or two about inflation.  Kenneth Rogoff, Harvard University economics professor and former IMF chief economist, admitted to being shocked at the cost of groceries while discussing the Federal Reserve's next steps in their inflation fight during an appearance on "Mornings with Maria" on Wednesday.     "I mean, I’m a professional. I understand the difference between the level of prices and inflation. It’s just something we haven’t seen in a long time," he stressed.  Rogoff went on to mention that "prices aren’t going to go down" and that, even though inflation is falling, prices are continuing to go up. RFK Jr. claimed ‘sham’ New York address disqualifying him from Empire State ballot, judge rules

By Michael Dorgan | Fox News Independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s longshot bid for president has become even more unlikely after a judge ruled on Monday that his name should not appear on New York’s ballot after he falsely claimed a residence in the state on nominating petitions, despite living in California. New York Justice Christina L. Ryba concluded in a 34-page decision that the rented bedroom Kennedy, 70, claimed as his residence in the state wasn’t a "bona fide and legitimate residence, but merely a ‘sham’ address that he assumed for the purpose of maintaining his voter registration" and furthering his political candidacy. Ryba wrote in the decision that Kennedy’s designation of 84 Croton Lake Road in Westchester County as his place of residence "was a fa...

Trump to sue DOJ for $100M over Mar-a-Lago ‘unconstitutional’ raid, alleging ‘political persecution’

By Brooke Singman , Lydia Hu | Fox News Former President Donald Trump is set to sue the Justice Department for $100 million in damages over the government’s unprecedented 2022 raid on his Mar-a-Lago property in Palm Beach, Florida, with lawyers arguing it was done with "clear intent to engage in political persecution." Fox News has obtained Trump’s memo claiming "tortious conduct by the United States against President Trump."  Trump and his legal team intend to sue the Justice Department for its conduct during the FBI’s raid on Mar-a-Lago on Aug. 8, 2022, amid the federal investigation into his alleged improper retention of classified records.  READ THE FULL STORY AT FOX NEWS

Speaker Johnson: Only Americans should decide our elections. Here’s how Congress can guarantee it.

By Speaker Mike Johnson | Commentary, Fox News There are few things more important to our country than ensuring the integrity of our elections. The people rightfully demand it, and Congress has a duty to act.   Yet, when given the opportunity to eliminate one of the most glaring threats to fair elections, 198 House Democrats voted instead to keep the door open to fraud.  The threat is very real. In nearly all 50 states today — including every major electoral battleground state — a noncitizen can walk into a DMV or welfare office, fill out a federal voter registration form, claim they are a U.S. citizen, and be registered to vote.  That noncitizen can then cast a ballot and help...

Claims against Walz for ‘stolen valor’ ignite battle between House veterans

By Elizabeth Elkind  | Fox News Controversy over Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz’s military service record is at the heart of Capitol Hill’s latest political firestorm, with veterans on both sides of the aisle chiming in on the new Democratic vice presidential candidate. Republicans are accusing Walz of misrepresenting details about his 24-year career in the National Guard — GOP lawmakers who served in the military have attacked him for leaving the National Guard to run for Congress shortly before his unit deployed to Iraq. Democratic veterans in Congress jumped to his defense, pointing out that Walz served past his 20-year retirement eligibility mark and dismissing the GOP attacks as baseless. Youngkin mandates all paper ballots for presidential elections in Virginia

By Timothy H.J. Nerozzi  | Fox News Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin is ordering all votes for the 2024 presidential election to be cast by paper ballot. Youngkin issued Executive Order 35 on Wednesday, which codifies election security protocols established under his governance for all future elections. "The Virginia model for Election Security works. This isn't a Democrat or Republican issue, it's an American and Virginian issue," Youngkin said in an announcement. "Every legal vote deserves to be counted without being watered down by illegal votes or inaccurate machines. In Virginia, we don’t play games and our model for election security is working." Report: Kamala Harris names Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her VP running mate

By Paul Steinhauser , Brooke Singman , Chris Pandolfo | Fox News Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic Party's presidential nominee, on Tuesday named Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her running mate as she faces off against former President Trump in the 2024 election, according to the Associated Press. The naming of the 60-year-old Walz was not a shocker, as his name was instantly thought to be in contention in the two weeks since Harris succeeded President Biden as the party's standard-bearer. The 60-year-old Walz, a former congressman, is in his second term as governor of Minnesota, a state that Democrats have reliably won in presidential elections for decades but that the Trump campaign has aimed at flipping this cycle.
