By Ernest Luning | Colorado Politics The National Republican Congressional Committee announced Monday that the Republican nominees in Colorado's most competitive congressional races were named to the House GOP campaign arm's Young Guns program for top challengers in targeted seats. First-time candidate Jeff Hurd and state Rep. Gabe Evans, R-Fort Lupton, are among 26 Republican House candidates inducted into the top tier of the campaign support program, which helps candidates who have met fundraising and organizational goals, the NRCC said. One would delay parole eligibility for violent offenders and the other, an amendment to the state constitution would guarantee parents the right to direct their children’s education. By Marissa Ventrelli | Colorado Politics A ballot initiative to reduce property tax assessment rates has received enough signatures to qualify for the November 2024 ballot, its sponsors announced Tuesday.  Proposition 108, also known as the Citizens' Tax Cut, has submitted nearly 200,000 signatures to the Secretary of State's Office, exceeding the required threshold by over 75,000. The signatures will now undergo a verification process to ensure their validity. Backed by Advance Colorado and Colorado Concern, Proposition 108 aims to reduce assessment rates to 5.7% for residential properties and 24% for commercial properties. By Ernest Luning | Colorado Politics The Colorado Republican Party sued two county GOP officers late Thursday in an attempt to block a group of Republicans from removing Dave Williams as the state party's chairman. In a lawsuit filed in Arapahoe County District Court, Williams, on behalf of the state GOP, asks the court to rule that an upcoming meeting of the state party's central committee — called by Williams' critics to consider whether to fire Williams — won't qualify as official party business.
