In response to demand for eggs, grocers putting limits on egg sales

By Amanda Alvarado | CBS 11 News Grocery stores have started rationing eggs amid an ongoing shortage that has caused the price of eggs to skyrocket. The egg shortage is due to increased bird flu among chickens. More than 13 million hens have died or have been slaughtered since December as a result of the bird flu outbreak, according to the Department of Agriculture. Former state champion Pine Creek QB Tommy Lazzaro dead after Florida hunting accident

By Jessica Mendoza | CBS 11 News Florida officials have confirmed a former Pine Creek High School quarterback died in a hunting accident December 22. Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) made that confirmation to KKTV news partner WILX. According to their reporting, the incident happened at the Eglin Air Force Base in Walton County where the 27-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. Suspected kidnapping in Pueblo prompts 40-mile police pursuit

By Lindsey Grewe | KKTV-TV CBS 11 A suspected kidnapping in Pueblo led to a 40-mile police chase, ending just outside the El Paso County jail. According to a Pueblo Police Department spokesperson, officers were called to a neighborhood on the city’s east side just before 4 a.m. Thursday on reports of a kidnapping. Family members at the scene told police that a man had driven off with his ex-girlfriend and wouldn’t let her out of the car. Police found the suspect and victim about 15 minutes later, still in the area of 2200 East 12th Street. The suspect sped off when he saw the officers, with the victim still in the car. Erica and Joshua Montgomery, who live in Castle Rock near Denver, said they keep receiving complaints that their Christmas lights are too bright. They said they feel like they are being harassed because there are houses on their street with far more decorated displays. “There are other neighbors with more Christmas lights just on the same block … it blew my mind that it was us that they were targeting,” Joshua Montgomery said. Monday afternoon, Ahmad Alissa, was convicted of killing 10 people inside and outside that store. Alissa is now preparing to serve 10 life sentences plus another 1,300 years in prison without parole. Before that sentencing, more than a dozen victims and family members spoke about the impact of this terrible tragedy, including how they are working to move forward. Afterwards, some said while they were very happy with the outcome, it will never take away the pain. “Your honor, I have to live the rest of my life without my dad. The Summit County Sheriff’s Office says the 54-year-old was very obviously intoxicated when he showed up at the detention center last week. He was also past the date he had been ordered to show up.
