(NYSE: WMT), is attempting to sell Caribou Ranch, a 1,700-acre property in the Rocky Mountain foothills near Nederland that for decades served as a recording retreat for mega-star musicians such as the Beach Boys, Michael Jackson, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Chicago and Earth, Wind & Fire. The asking price: a cool $48.5 million. Caribou Ranch, built in 1972 by record producer James William Guercio, is owned by Indian Peaks Holdings LLC, Boulder County property records show. Larimer Co. assessor says 51 homes were damaged or lost in Alexander Mountain fire

By BizWest The Larimer County assessor has completed a report of property damage caused by the Alexander Mountain Fire. The report, completed Sunday, shows that 51 homes were recorded as damaged or lost. Property owners impacted by the fire could see their property values reduced, resulting in their taxes being lowered, as they recover, repair or rebuild, according to a news release from the assessor’s office. “In the months ahead, my office will continue to study damages in the Alexander Fire burn scar for any valuation adjustments on impacted properties,” Larimer County Assessor Bob Overbeck said in a prepared statement. “We’ll also be there to assist homeowners while they rebuild.” READ THE FULL STORY AT BIZWEST

This month, the FAA announced $9.7 million in grants to Colorado airports, including $513,599 to the Greeley-Weld County Airport to improve its apron, where passengers load onto parked planes. That was in addition to $10 million in grants the FAA had awarded in June, in which $609,290 went to the Northern Colorado Regional Airport in Loveland to improve its taxiway, and $315,000 that was granted to the Vance Brand Municipal Airport in Longmont to install perimeter fencing. By BizWest Platte River Power Authority will officially break ground on its Black Hollow Solar project, which will provide enough electricity to power more than 36,000 homes a year. The authority will host a groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday to commemorate its largest solar project to date, the Black Hollow Solar project. The plan is to complete it by 2025 and deliver roughly 367,000 megawatt-hours of energy to Platte River’s system every year, according to a news release.
